Re: Anyone found the roads less busy and/or motorists driving better?

I wonder if a proportion of drivers are experiencing some emotional problems with the current situation and are allowing it to affect their mood while driving. I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case. Just poor driving ability, a good driver can restrain him/her self and drive accordingly within t...

Grief! Become an Advance Motorist, and then you can comment. Do NOTHING automatically. Do EVERYTHING purposefully and with a REASON to do it. This! Automatically doing 'something' means you're not thinking properly and taking stuff for granted, and when that one time you 'automatically' do somethin...

Re: Cattle grids...

If you're not sure dismount, you're not in a race, you've nothing to prove, weather conditions, tyre choice on the day/pressures, your experience and knowledge all factor in but ATEOTD a few seconds lost time can save you a heck of a lot of grief if you have any doubts.

Re: Anyone found the roads less busy and/or motorists driving better?

Quieter roads today, my first day back at work since last Thursday, however speeding motorists massively increased, a delivery van, Luton box type thing came steaming past in the opposite direction on the estate road doing close to 50 in a 30. An open top volvo diesel with an older gentleman driver ...

Re: There’s no better time for cities to take space away from cars

Now is the time to stop up strategic parts of the highway network in towns and cities to motor traffic, a perfect opportunity for the best solution to increasing cycling and to make that cycling massively safer. We then only need police and the so called justice system to back up, had far too many ...

As above, 700x28s are your best bet I use these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Pair-of-Giant-P-SL2-Folding-Tyres-700-x-28c/233488241114?hash=item365cfbd1da:g:NjoAAOSwxlBePXhE both on my commuter and my audax cum tourer/winter racer. You could probably ask the sender to reduce the postage as being folder...

There's some red cable outers with brake inner cables for £5 posted, you'd just need two inner gear cables https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bike-Complete-Set-Brake-Gear-Front-Rear-Inner-Outer-Bike-Cables-Bicycle-Cable/163960323740?hash=item262ccbfe9c%3Am%3AmP9QvKi4yz2qG2g24sHKtyQ&LH_ItemCondition=3 If...

Re: Coronavirus (aka COVID-19) - just how serious?

So if you were bothered about saving lives why weren't you and the rest self isolating every year so that fewer people died of influenza, an illness I've proven many times to be a bigger threat to life and infection rate? Don't be a massive hypocrite and self isolate for the rest of your life. :rol...

Re: Coronavirus (aka COVID-19) - just how serious?

If certain posters were actively suggesting that a couple of hundred thousand of our fellow citizens should be shot dead, would you allow that as 'freedom of speech'? Granted they aren't actively proposing murder, but the end result: Lots of dead people, will be just the same. In a crisis like this...

Re: Coronavirus (aka COVID-19) - just how serious?

Folks are allowed to discuss exactly what they want to discuss, to make their own decisions about what is right for them, and to ignore nonsensical dictats if they are impractical to implement. This is supposed to be a forum for Touring Cyclists, not a Government love-in. There has been a huge amou...
