Re: Winter tyres

The point is mute now - mainly because, by the time it took me to read that, summer came

Re: Myklops Mirror?

https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/accessories/myklops-wearable-rear-view-mirror/ Anyone tried one? I like the idea of that - and I was going to make something similar. I currently use Zefal mirrors, but like all bar mounted ones, they get knocked out of position easily, when passing though control gates ...

Re: drain holes in BB shells

Anyone one know how Tange Prestige holds up against corrosion over time? There are holes at the ends of the chainstays and one at the wishbone, but no BB drain hole On side note - I always thought those holes on the BB shell were for attaching cable guides, for frames where the cable(s) run under th...

Re: Hostile reaction to cheery greeting - Is it just me?

I tried shouting "STRAVA" a couple of times, but it doesn't work that well.

Ironically, it does work in coffee shop queues at trail parks

Oooh - noted - thanks

I've had some concerns lately about my Single Speed and that looks the ticket.

Re: Is it just me?

Only once in my life do I recall actually hearing an adder's hiss - and that was just before I saw the snake itself, emerging from a tussock. A very distinctive sound and instantly recognisable (despite the fact that it was a 'first' for me). Perhaps you should carry a recording? But I reckon most ...

Re: Is it just me?

Hope Pro 4 Hubs get people's attention normally (although some people just swat at thin air - rather than turn around).

On a side note, if anyone asks me where my bell is, my usual reply is "I left it in the shed, along with my shopping basket and tassels".

Re: Trekking bike choices

I have bought several bikes from CRC and never had a problem. Fast delivery too (here in the UK at least)

Re: 36 hole 650B Rim

Mavic also do the EX830 in 36h at 27.5, but they are more expensive again at around £60-£65

32 (and 28 for straight pull) seems to be the MTB norm these days. The most 36h I see are 29ers (and the occasional 26)

Not sure what you are looking to use them for - best go look yourself

On sale at CRC for £16.99 at the moment.

There are better tyres on sale there at the moment though.

Actually, mine is somewhat more refined than that, as it has the built-in Walter Mitty pressure gauge.

Re: Who's had all the 26" wheels?

If it's just that the hubs are rumbling a little it's usually just the cones that need replacing,it's cheaper to buy new hubs and use the cones axles and balls out of them. Alternatively grease them up and keep running them, they'll get worse but IME it takes a good few(10?) thousand miles until the...

Re: Who's had all the 26" wheels?

On a side note - if anyone is interested, I have a set of 26" Mavic XC717 disc rims (black) on 6-bolt Deore M525 Disc Hubs (black) They are straight as a dye and just need rebuilding on new hubs. I already have a new replacement Deore M525 Disc Front hub, but no rear I was going to rebuild them...
