Cameron: He's a Real Nowhere Man

... Living in his nowhere land. With 40 odd days left till Britain's exit, the man, the architect of the vote is keeping an ultra low profile that makes Lord Lucan look conspicuous. Where all of his contemporaries have done well, moved on, Osborne a successful newspaper man, Clegg living la vida in ...

Re: Britain's Most Boring Town

Boring is good Alresford and Kingston-upon-Hull were voted 'crap towns' but they are popular with many people too, minusplus Used to know Milton Keynes a bit, is it boring or unboring? Is la France profonde boring? Most of the little towns are deserted in winter, but they somehow burst into life th...

Britain's Most Boring Town

For many years Fort William 'The gateway to the Isles' won this not so coveted title, on account of its one street shopping /pub life and few amenities and general run down nature of the centre. We used to pass on by when visiting relatives in the Highlands in the early 2000's. It was desperate grim...

Re: Britain's 'angriest town.'

You are. You could get a top quality sole occupancy Airbnb apartment anywhere in the UK outside of Kingdom for about half of that. I can recommend you half a dozen countrywide if you want.. As long as that Airbnb has good showers, towels changed every day and a nearby source of food for my mechanic...

Re: SRAM new 'AXS' for MTB/road

Here's another analogy: Formula 1 vs the Tour de France I'm getting pretty tired of #amateur reviewers giving forth, mostly in a deprecating, condescending way on technology improvements and development in cycling. From what I read its mostly uninformed whatiffery from tired Google searches, referen...

Re: Body Clock

The broken sleep pattern mentioned above was the norm in Europe up until the start of the 20th century when electric lighting became popular in large cities. I often wake up around 3am, get up have a potter about, maybe read a book or play guitar and have a good solid 3h45 minutes till the alarm.. I...

Re: Britain's 'angriest town.'

If your job is one of the 30 - 50 the that can be life changing. That isn't such a large employer in a town with a population of 13,000. Premier Inns are not cheap / budget hotels ....they won't effect the budget b&b in the area B&B's in sort after areas aren't cheap. The really cheap B&...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Its like watching grown men kicking a three legged dog. The pack of hungry hound Remainers, circling the lone mongrel, wounded leaver. Most of these threads are like watching live cruelty to dumb animals. If we're all hounds and mongrels, does that make you the "grown men"? That's very in...

Re: SRAM new 'AXS' for MTB/road

Same old story. Something new is bad. Shall we assume that all those objectors are riding hobby horses? After all pedals are not really needed and are a pointless complication. Why not stop having a go at other peoples pleasure? I don't think that's entirely fair. Most of the knockers of tec...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

So they said. Ruddles County was meant to have used the original recipe when brewed by Morelands. The taste said otherwise. Youngs decided to sell their brewery site for development. They kept their pubs and had the beers brewed by Charlie Wells so not really an acquisition by Wells. It seems that ...

Here’s a concise and simple description of li-ion ageing by a battery scientist. It explains calendar ageing […] Battery aging would indeed be a problem if you were charging the battery every day. Its down to charge /discharge cycles […] Being derogatory is all in a days posting for some people. I ...

Re: Galaxy Steel Frame repair advice please

I've done a successful home repair on a 1970s Holdsworth with exactly the same failure. I did pretty much what was suggested up thread, V cut into the affected area and weld fill, letting the joint cool down in between fills. With relatively little welding experience (a three day course at college 3...
