Re: Do not throw your pearls before swine?

this is why we cant have nice things talked to a couple of people on them and they think they're great, it's a great idea, and why wouldn't it be? there's always that small percentage of people that don't have a sense of responsibility, or gratitude. i think about people that aren't paid great wages...

Re: Beginner Road Bike Help

yeah i get you matt, it's something i'd be worried about too. what's the fit like on the btwin? after a couple of weeks the only thing i'm truly unhappy about is the fit, the medium was too big, and the small was too small. the more specific sizing makes me lean towards the merlin, factored in with ...

Re: Beginner Road Bike Help

I tested the B'Twin 500SE as my local store is about 10 minutes away and the wheel size was different to the others on the 51cm frame. The guy said it wasn't a problem getting parts however would prefer 700c tires as it is far easier to get parts. oh! "it's not a problem" he says , g...

Re: Beginner Road Bike Help

for me it comes down to drive train - microshift vs claris. annoyingly here, i can't really vouch for either. i'm leaning towards the btwins as i've grown to love the 520 i recently bought from them. i'd suggest ringing your local branch to see about trying them out. the store checker is a little......

Re: Rack/Pannier for Specialized Allez?

i was considering something like this for a bike without mounts but i ended up going for something less sporty. (guessing you've seen these actually) https://www.evanscycles.com/topeak-beam-rack-mtx-a-type-EV162278 there are also clips you can get but i've never tried them https://www.evanscycles.co...

Re: Bike adjustments, where to start?

i got a 520 with similar complaints. the stock brake cables were covered with fluff and they stretched without much force, be it due to poor set up or quality, the rear had started to unwind on the way home. replacing those gave me a lot more control. i changed the cartridges for some shimano ones i...

Re: Corbyn to be PM within 6 months?

blackbike's closer on the fashionably left is sound IMO, even as a lefty. it's a little tough sometimes at uni, to have somebody preaching to you constantly, trying to convince you of what you already know. being a mature student, i know what happened to all my friends that went to uni. they'd be we...

i like your posts, so i dont want to hide them, but i wont take it personally if you dont want to read mine. if everybody got along it would be an absolute nightmare to keep track of birthdays. it's cool! i'm not even remotely offended.

Re: ** The RANT thread for Odds and Sods **

I'd vote for a return of the dog-licence (would £250 pa per dog be unaffordable? More for an un-neutered canine? Cats as well, maybe?). too many people own pets for pets sake. dont think it should be so high but there needs to be some sort of "are you sure mate?" charge. And what about ol...

Re: Corbyn to be PM within 6 months?

it'd be nice, but i doubt it's going to happen. i've not had a chance to read or watch the news properly yet (well i probably have) but it looks like may's found that magic money tree. blackbike, you'll like this tweet i saw about his glasto performance "not surprised corbyns a hit at glastonbu...

bus full of commuters that are paying to get them to work to earn money to get them to work. you don't mess with a worker's day. public transport is bad enough without us getting involved. the bus driver was being a bit of a clown, maybe other cyclists (like myself) would have taken secondary positi...

sorry bakfiets just a bit of good natured joshing, in accordance with poe's law i really should have used an emoji. in fact i'm pretty sure this is the seventh time i've done this, sorry mate! you're right, i feel like there is a bit of tribalism sometimes. my own way of dealing with it is being a b...
