Re: Tri/aero bars on Trek Emonda SL6 pro

For best effect you want to remove any spacers below the stem and perhaps flip your stem so that your position is as low as possible.

Re: First timer here, what bike should I be buying?

I doubt cervelo are any better or worse than other brands frames. They all have QC tolerances which are likely to be similar otherwise the costs will be astronomical. They probably use the same group of factories too So the only real variable to brands is the design of frames although I'd hazard a g...

Re: Bike fitting: why? Why not?

I'm away at moment but will post pics when I get back My friend lightly sanded his Raleigh frame to remove any rusting and then sprayed it with clear lacquer which I must admit l...

Dawes am10 tubing.

Does anyone know anything about Dawes am10 tubing.

Saw a cheap hybrid with this tubing which felt quite light and a butted twang to it......

The only reference it can find to it is here....

Re: Anyone painted their bikes?

I did it to a cheap British eagle frame with wilko exterior paint. Cheap but not a great success however I don't mind if I damage the paint now so it's not so bad after all! Modern paint is low in voc and is therefore very soft for days after painting it. Best getting old fashioned solvent based ena...

I felt well and truly put in my place, the said daughter returned asked how sh...

The GB divide route will be tough. They won't take the a49 / a6!

Re: A diferent direction

No the wind is variable can even be north to south sometimes. Just the majority of time it's south to north.

It's hilly in Cornwall and Devon then flatter till the north of England up to Scotland.

But there are routes which take the sting out the hills.

Re: sportives before my sportive?

Build up slowly, you've probably got the base fitness, but it's the fuelling strategy that tends to put people in a heap at the side of the road. There was a letter in Cycling UK's magazine a little while ago stating that a good target for carb intake whilst cycling was 1g per 1 kg bodyweight per h...

Re: sportives before my sportive?

I think you'll be fine.

Just take things steady and eat well.

Keep up the cycling till the event and you will have a good base.

Re: A diferent direction

Most do it on road, south to north, 10-14 days typically.

GB divide is 50/50 as you say.

Getting out of John o groats is harder than lands end but the winds are generally south to north east.

Our kids have been fine on the second hand ridgebacks.

If anything a change to lighter tyres would make the most difference.
