Thanks very informative details as per usual.
I'm asking as I'm about to put one of these hubs into service. I have a spare damaged hub so can use the axle from that should it go pop.
Thanks

Re: Forking good job
Thanks for sharing your positive experience about BJ.
Was it a 1" or 1 1/8th fork?
Can you post a pic of the extended fork?
Thanks

Schwalbe also do at least one tyre that comes up at 35mm as it's 1.35"

with large flanges and 650bs which is best, 2 or 3 cross?
I'm concerned about spoke seating angles.

Re: Advice please on SA drum brake 70mm and 90mm performance
Brucey,
BTW to my joy I discovered that the (very good quality, correctly toleranced) SA bearings can in many cases be upgraded from shields to contact seals; the inner and outer races of the SA bearings are intended to accept either sort. Since I routinely remove the inner seals from other cartridge bearing hubs (so that the hub can be pretty much filled with SFG), I had a stash of new seals ready to install. This meant that SA brake hubs can also be converted to run on SFG without it leaking into the brake mechanism.
Thanks for particular part, I'll definitely be revisiting this shortly, once I've asked the forum their advice in lacing patterns for 650Bs and large flange hubs.
Thanks I appreciate your input.

Re: Advice please on SA drum brake 70mm and 90mm performance
Thanks guys for the input, good points in both cases.
I'll probably never carry much weight maybe other than some vino/beers and I live in a flat area to boot.
Sounds like a 70mm will definitely do.
Thanks

Advice please on SA drums performance AND wheel builds
Hi
I'm planning a new pair of wheels for an old R 531 80s frame and want to try 650Bs but to avoid the brake drop compatibility issues I thought I'd opt for SA drums.
I already have a fairly good SA Elite VT front hub (which I've just spruced up by polishing the shell and regreasing the sealed bearings) but I wondered if I should really be considering getting the 90mm version for the front. A new 90mm front is circa £60 but is it really much better than a 70mm version?
Any advice or input is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Steerer extender
There's this type of extender
https://www.spacycles.co.uk/m2b0s88p298 ... be-Adapter
It's more streamlined than the external bolted on type however I'm not 100% sure it's suitable for your setup so please investigate further.

It's got to be worth contacting Pitlock, new owner should be able to showEbay advert and if the vendor was willing to mail Pitlock as backup. Might be the vendor never registered them with Pitlock.
