Re: Front disc brake with dropouts
Any chance we can see a pic of the "posted out tabs" in situ please? they sound like an ideal solution.
Thanks

Re: Weinmann Centre Pull
I'm not great at MA so please bear with me.
In RJB's arrangement does this setup mean that the pull is halved and is therefore more like a regular DP/Canti brake lever pull as opposed to old weinmann levers designed for these brakes.

Re: Roller brake vs long drop dual caliper
Other people's experiences, with these brakes, seem to contrast with my own, which was 4 years of all weather commuting and never a problem. No doubt they dont stop like the modern hydro drop bar brakes, but the performance was still good. I never once had any doubts about using them to commute into central london. I do remember that performance tailed off and I had to get grease.

Re: IGH lubrication; a smoking gun.
There's a post on the Rohloff section of the Thorn forum about someone on crazyguyonabike who has paid to have Rohloff oil analysed.
Here's the Thorn link
http://thorncyclesforum.co.uk/index.php ... ic=12554.0
and the CGOAB link
https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/forum/b ... sted=0&v=M
I'm personally wary about this as I have no knowledge of this sort, e.g. the oil additives and potential damage.
Thought it might be of interest to others on here.

Re: Roller brake vs long drop dual caliper
I used a roller brake on a heavy commuter for years and never had any worries about it stopping me. As Brucey also points out they have an inbuilt mechanism to stop you going over the handlebars, I don't know if this because these brakes are aimed at casual riders (and therefore inexperienced cyclists) or if they're "so powerful" Shimano had to limit their abilities. The Shimano roller brakes need grease in the rollers and without it they become much less effective.

Re: SCAM ALERT - Overpayment by cheque
I've read about this elsewhere, most commonly in over payment for deposits for flats and bedsits. The story goes that their company have already approved £x expenditure and they've got to spend it. Obviously it's always more than you're looking for so you agree to "cash" their cheque and when it's cleared give them the difference back, sometimes as a temptation they offer to split it with you. Apparently when a cheque clears on your account you're not always safe to draw against it and it isn't actually "guaranteed" for quite a while.
When they eventually bounce, weeks or months later the funds that never existed are simply taken from your account by your bank and then you're down as you've removed funds in cash to either "split the difference" or simply sell an item as well give the fraudster some cash in the form of the difference.

Re: Locking front skewer (thru axle)... help!
Actually thinking about this I doubt that Shimano have produced a converter and I doubt that an existing converter would work as I'd wager that that Shimano have stuck to cup and cone for this hub and most other manufacturers making TA hubs will be using cartridge bearings and would therefore be incompatible.
Also as per my previous post even if you mananged to adapt your hub to a regular QR (in order to utilise the Pitloc skewer) then your DOs will be still be the same. One DO will be threaded for your TA threaded axle and the other will be a hole large enough to allow your threaded axle through.
Regular QR ends are 9mm shoulders and aren't going to fit in a DO designed for a TA.
I don't think wheels with adaptable hubs are designed to switch interface (QR/TA etc) standards for use in the same frame/forks but rather so you can move wheels onto another frame/forks.

Re: Locking front skewer (thru axle)... help!
Sorry for being a bit dense here but I think you are saying you want to convert/adapt the front hub to use a security skewer? If so then I don't think this will work as your DOs are designed to accept a TA and the DOs aren't adaptable. Unless one of the existing Pitlock skewers works then it's not going to be easy.

Re: Phone mount - Quad Lock Bike Kit Universal Fit
Funny I've just bought one of these for use with a Samsung S7 (non edge version). I have a hard smooth plastic "case", one of those that clips to the back of the phone and doesn't cover the phone entirely just the back and sides.
I was a little nervous at first and put used a few elastic bands around it in case of mishaps but it's been rock solid. I've used everyday for commuting and several longer rides. I made sure the case was completely clean before applying the sticky mount.
Later in the year they're bringing out a quad lock case specific to my phone and I'll probably get that when it's out.
good luck

you mention extra light inner tubes. Are extra light inners latex? Is there a weight saving or are they simply more flexible, like a high TPI tyre?
Thanks
