what are these called and where to get them?

Does anyone know what these fastenings are called which hold the chain wheel on and where to order them from? Ideally I would like them in stainless. https://preview.ibb.co/fk8A2S/P1230273.jpg https://preview.ibb.co/iHF197/P1230274.jpg https://preview.ibb.co/f1ozwn/P1230275.jpg

Re: Pannier security

They're designed to stop an opportunist thief. I think the word opportunist is meaningless. I would say it is highly probable that nearly every "opportunist" will at the minimum have a small pair of pocket cutters which can be had for a couple of pounds. Yesterday I went into town and eve...

They would not stop a 5 year old with a decent pair of scissors. Not worth wasting money on such trash. Things like this only act to give a false sense of s...

Re: Dynamo AA battery charger - do they exist?

yes I saw darknwewt's post tommydog. Agree that it is positive but still a tad wary at the mo. After all it strikes me that there shouldn't be any debate about this thing at all - surely it should just be a matter of plugging in and stuff works? I think the main uncertainty comes from the Ewerk as ...

Re: Dynamo AA battery charger - do they exist?

Me? I may possibly be veering away from the technical complications of dyamo charging and power conversion. Have you seen the latest post from Darknewt on this thread: https://forum.cyclinguk.org/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=120392&start=60 He seems to being having great success with charging a powe...

Re: Dynamo AA battery charger - do they exist?

I thought I'd offer an update on the USB AA/AAA battery charger from IKEA I linked to above. Thanks for that update. I am very tempted to buy one myself. Although it is not a fast charger, it may work very well for topping up the batteries. You could just plug it in overnight and forget about it. I...

Re: panniers with all metal mountings?

But can't help wondering why you would want all metal mountings. I like the robustness of metal, and it's easy to repair on the road. It's even easy to replace entirely, using some sheet metal or other bodge. I really can't think of any disadvantage. People complain about metal on metal and wearing...

panniers with all metal mountings?

Does anyone know of panniers that have all metal mountings? I know the Arkel Dolphin has all metal mountings, as shown here:

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Re: Charging a high capacity battery from a dynamo?

I've been frankly often wondering why so many people buy the e-werk and not a more useful (IMO) 5Vdc usb dynamo charger. One reason might be that a standard 5Vdc usb dynamo charger once under load, if not properly sustained from "behind" (dynamo) by an adequate power, it'll quite likely t...

Re: Charging a high capacity battery from a dynamo?

I 3. At this point, once on the bicycle and getting the dynamo spinning off and at the same time the e-werk making its own nice 5Vdc, well at this point with gps/mobile all connected most of the generated power would go to these connected devices just bypassing or better topping-up the powerbank ba...

Re: Charging a high capacity battery from a dynamo?

... but my point is a user on this forum has reported success with charging the 26800mAh RAV battery ... ... actually he didn'd say at all " charging " but " ... " I start off with a 26000 Mah battery fully charged " ... that's a different story isn't it ?? However, just in...

Re: ARe: Fast charge powerbanks?

Yes, I mean charging devices from the powerbank. You can leave them to charge but they keep on using up the powerbank, albeit usually at a slower rate. I think the worst devices - ones that did silly things like turning all their lights and connectivity on when on charge - have probably died out no...

This is one of the latest ones from RAV. It claims dual input to reduce charging times: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07793KSV4 This: http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/products/lighting/batteries-chargers/vinninge-battery-charger-art-40303632/ claims to switch off automatically when the batteries are fully cha...

Re: Charging a high capacity battery from a dynamo?

1. As I can see the " pass-through " option appears to be quite a controversial issue, to the point that the official opinion of an Anker engineer (competitor of RAV) is the following: quote we actually made the decision to remove this function from our portable chargers. When pass-throug...
