Re: Cannondale Ebike
I found the same problem with websites,it’s better to speak to someone though you do get different answers depending who you speak to !
When I booked a trial run at Evans the guy said I could have a couple of hours ride, then when someone else phoned to say the bike had arrived ,I checked and he said half an hour! He did explain that they had to order the bike in and it wasn’t a demo bike.
Some places will hire a demo bike for the day and knock the hire price off the purchase price ( Evans used to do it but I can’t find any ref.to it on their website) but you can’t always find the bike you want
Re clunky gear change, I do sometimes experience this when shifting very low gears under pressure ( ie out of the saddle uphill) and in sport or turbo mode. Probably rider error though

Re: Cannondale Ebike
Glad to be of help !
Bought mine from Evans in Sheffield. They were very good. You can take the bike out on the roads for half an hour which is better than the usual ride round the car park.
They had to order my size ,so had to wait a week but that was no problem as I had a holiday booked in Snowdonia.
Took my Genesis Croix de Fer (I love this bike ! )with front hub motor and did quite a few miles in the mountains which I really enjoyed.
This gave me a good base from which to assess the Neo when I got home. I was very impressed.

Re: Cannondale Ebike
I have a Neo 2. Bought it in June last year and it has been great.
Did a lot of research into other makes and drive systems, and shortlisted two; the Cannondale and the Bianchi Impulso.
However I couldn’t get to road test the Bianchi,so gave up on that despite having Bianchi lust !
Tried the Neo and was really impressed with it,it is very comfortable and rides like a ‘normal’ bike. The drive system is very good and is easy to ride above the 15.5 mph cut off,I don’t usually notice that I’m doing all the work !
Originally I would use the power for the hills only, ( have a heart condition,so not supposed to have a heart rate higher than 125 max and average in the 90s),however as the bike is so nice to ride and the battery lasts me 50+ miles I now use it to ride at the pace I used to under my own steam.
I have full mudguards on but no rack. I ride mainly on road but do tracks and trails, nothing too gnarly though.
I have a gravel bike and mtb which I have converted myself and which are good fun but nothing like as competent as the Neo.
Cheers,
Rob
Ps If you search the pedelecs forum there is an interesting thread about the Neo

Actually I think The Goonshow had more information on this conundrum!
I have the time written on a piece of paper. A nice man gave it to me .

Re: Carbon forks on my Croix de Fer
Hayers is spot on I think. You will only know by comparison.
FWIW I have a crois de fer30, steel frame and forks and it is much more comfortable than my other two road bikes which both have carbon forks. One has carbon frame , t’other aluminium. But of course they are all different ,so shouldn’t really compare them

I just lean the bike over as far as necessary ! Obvs not too easy if laden !
I have also ,when recovering from an op. which restricted movement a bit, laid the bike on the ground, stepped over it and picked it up.
If I have stated the obvious I is sorry, just don't all shout at once

Re: OBREA GAIN D40 (e-bike)
I was going to buy a Gain ,partly because of its lowish weight ,but mainly because it looks like a 'normal' bike !
However I came to the conclusion (reluctantly) that it didn't have the range/power that I need. (Dickey ticker)
So, I bought a Cannondale Synapse Neo 2 . It is heavy but this seems immaterial when riding it.
I am really pleased with it,think I made the right choice for me. Head overruled weight weenie heart for a change!
If you go on Pedelecs forum and search Cannondale Synapse Neo you will find an interesting thread with some very pleased Neo owners. Lots of superlatives to describe the bike but deserved in my humble opinion.
Cheers, Rob

What about a Kobo ?
I use the Kobo app on my iPad as well ,they both sync.so you're always on the same page.

Re: Had heart attack whilst on bike - advice on getting back on the saddle
I had heart attack in November last year, just sitting at home doing nowt ! Missus called 999 and I was whisked off to hospital to have a stent fitted. Less than 3 hrs from dialling 999 to coming out of theatre feeling quite normal !
It was 8 weeks before I started cycling but it took that long for me to feel brave enough to have a go.Cardiologist said only flat work to start and only 2 or 3 miles. I would normally do rides of 35 miles with plenty of hills.
I built up gradually to about 20 miles mostly flat, then started a cardiac rehab course.
Told the physio I was cycling again which was fine, told him how far I was cycling, NO,NO,NO says he !
10 miles max and heart rate average in 80s to 90s ,absolute max 120. That's hills out then.
Anyway, after a bit of a scare when I ended up in A&E with chest pains,(got the all clear on that) I was talking to the doctor ,who does ironman triathlons, and she said I need to get some tailored advice from the cardiologist with regards to cycling given my fitness levels before the 'event' because the advice re exercising is somewhat generic and I 'm not your average 60 year old couch potato ,and unless you happen on a cycling cardiologist they possibly don't appreciate what you can do.
However I haven't followed up on this advice yet as I've had an unrelated op this summer and I am just getting fit again again !
Back up to 25 miles or so but no big hills yet !
Due to see cardiologist soon though so will see what he thinks.
I would definitely speak to cardiac rehab. Even if the advice seems a bit cautious, better to be safe I think.
