Re: Carradice Super C Wobble

BerlinMatt wrote: 7 Mar 2023, 1:16pm The Block needs to be tight to the seatpost. When I've used mine with small diameter seatposts I've had to put a shim made of old innertube between the bands and the post. What's the diameter of your seatpost? Might also be worth checking that carradice didn't send you the larger sized bands by mistake.
I think it's a great system and have used it with their largest bags for touring and on really horrible roads without issues.
Hallo,
The block is good and tight, but there is a tad too much play between the block and the frame rails so can wobble a bit much.
Seatpost is a bog standard 27.2.

You seem to be collecting advice relevant to a Super C saddlebag, of which there are several models and sizes, or you may have one of the Super C SQR saddlepacks.
If it is the former, I think you're stuffed, the bag is too wide for that mount unless you keep it very lightly loaded. If it's the latter - I have no idea as I've never used one. My advice is, be more precise with your question, otherwise following the the answers will add to your problems!
Cheers,
Super C saddlebag: https://carradice.co.uk/shop/saddlebags ... cba1185463
SQR mounting block and frame: https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/luggage/car ... ft-system/

It seems that in theory it should work as it effectively (hardly) adds the saddle eyes to a frame on the seatpost.

Carradice Super C Wobble

Hi All,

I recently bought a Carradice Super C saddlebag and the quick release 'SQR' mounting block and frame. It's a nice big bag and hoped it would replace a rack and pannier system, but just find it flaps around so much while riding, especially when out of the saddle.

There is a fair amount of play between the seatpost mounting block and the frame and am trying to resolve this with Carradice. Also it seems that the bag can easily flap back and forth and side and it affects how the bikes ride with this fairly unsupported weight flapping around at the back.

Does anyone have a solution to hold with this? have tried wrapping a bungee around it and the seatpost to tie it back, but it removes the elegance from the system and is a bit of a faff to open.

Cheers
Bill

Touring bike stand

Hello all,

I’ve reached the age where I think a stand might be a good idea for my bike.
Can anyone recommend what they think is the Rolls Royce of bicycle stands.
It’s to go on a touringish bike (surly troll) and would be useful to use it when loading panniers on etc so will need to be able to take a fairly hefty load.

There isn’t a dedicated mount anywhere on there for one to my knowledge.

Any insights would be mucho appreciated.

Cheers and happy pedalling

Re: Brittany Touring

Thanks for the replies.

We'll give Huelgoat a miss if we pass it. Think we will head to Cannes then hug the coat West round back up to St Malo.

Thanks again

Brittany Touring

Hello all

I'm off to Brittany (Portsmouth to St Malo) next week with couple of pals for a weeks cycle touring and camping. Planning is minimal at the moment, with an idea of just cycling West-ish towards the parc d'Armorique.

Thought I'd try here to see if anyone has any recommendations of good routes, towns or anything that could help piece a decent path along the way.

Thanks in Advance
Bill M
