Re: LEZYNE bike lights

I still have one of their front lights (Microdrive, I think). Like most of Lezyne's lights, it has so-called "Tool-less" rubber band mounting that I hate. Although it's small it never stays at the angle I want for very long. All my current front lights have proper brackets with thumb wheel...

Re: ..what 10sp rear Shimano mechs I can use?

Thanks Brucey
That was my impression - good to have it confirmed though. There is also a non-clutch XT rear available. I tried to use Shimano's compatibility page but it timed out earlier today. I better check what 11 -28t 10sp cassette I've bought.

Re: wireless cycle computer for 2 bikes

I have used more than one wireless computer - all have been unreliable, especially in very cold weather). Despite my misgivings of Garmin's Edge 20/25 (mentioned in another thread) & being GPS, I'd go for something that has a single rechargeable battery with "O" ring fixing quarter-tur...

..what 10sp rear Shimano mechs I can use?

Am currently using a Deore Dyna-Sys 10sp rear mech on my hybrid. Is an XT M786 Shadow+ or even an XTR M986 Shadow+ compatible? I would stick with long cage versions (11-28 & 48, 36, 26).

Re: Anyone like their Garmin Edge 25?

A late reply ans another question... I also paid £45 for one from Aldi but I am beginning to think that it was a waste of money. Wow! Paid full price for mine last Spring - bought from 700 in Windsor who were not in the slightest bit interested in giving a CTC discount in any shape of form! AFAIK, ...

This forum is comedy gold, slaggung stuff off and poking fun because it's perceived as being superfluous, only idiots would buy it and all the other negative stuff. There are plenty on here (including myself) who will have bikes that fit into that bracket absolutely, that are hugely expensive, aren...

Re: Going to 11-speed road can't be worth it (from 9-speed)

The industry would say you are absolutely right but would recommend a new bike instead! We are approaching the crunch time - will they dare launch a 13sp system? I'd guess not! IMO, incrementing the number of sprockets every 3-4 years is more about built-in obsolesce than technical advancement. nah...

Re: Anyone like their Garmin Edge 25?

My partner has a 25 and a cadence/wheel sensor seems to work fine with that. My understanding is that it performs some sort of calibration when you first connect it. I think with the 25 they have tried to make it "simple/easy to use" but I agree that they have probably gone too far and th...

Re: Anyone like their Garmin Edge 25?

If you really care you might try a wheel sensor. I think that tends to trigger better (at least it does on a Edge 520). I think the 25 will accept a wheel sensor. My Giant Defy has a built-in cadence & wheel sensor that the Edge would (in theory at least) work with. I ended up removing the spok...

Power loss due to extra friction. 3. Lack of gears for optimal cadence, run out out gears at high/low spe...

Re: Anyone like their Garmin Edge 25?

I turned off Auto Pause & the av speed has dropped further as I expected it to. Thursday morning's ride to work: 15.71 - moving av (Cyclemeter app with Stop detection on & GPS only, 7.26 miles) 15.2 - moving av (Edge 25 with auto pause off & GPS only, 7.21 miles) Good run - hardly any st...

Re: Anyone like their Garmin Edge 25?

There ain't no threshold setting - the functionality has been whittled down for the 20/25. I'll turn off Auto pause for tomorrow's morning ride but I'm stationary for quite a few minutes & don't really want the distraction of manually stopping & starting the damned thing. Will compare the av...

Re: Anyone like their Garmin Edge 25?

A shame it's no longer available - they even had an IOS version. The problem with the Edge's av speed calculation is the threshold is too high so miscalculates on short commutes where I start & stop constantly. The longer the journey, the greater the accuracy. I was climbing up a very steep hill...
