Re: Fungi identification

Nice Blewit anyone? image.jpgimage.jpg That is very nice. Nice and big. A lovely nice big blewitt, that. But it should be on a pristine white plate not that one with the blue scribbly stuff confusing the svelte lines of the lovely nice blewit. I have reported you to the Blewit Photography Society s...

Re: Pregnant? 65 or over?

I may be over 65, and I may be male, but that doesn't mean I should be discriminated against for not being allowed to be pregnant. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFBOQzSk14c I saw that photo you posted on the bridge, in which you looked about 3 months to me! Re: Who/When invented eBikes?

How many go for the basic assumption that some "one" must have invented this that or the other? Personally I've long disregarded this assumption, first brought into question when doing a history of science course at uni. I gradually confirmed, via observations of ever accelerating technolo...

Were you too embarrassed to allow the photographer to show you hanging in the barbed wire fence off to the left there after doing a hoogerland? :-)

Re: Can we finally agree that building roads increases congestion?

The cheap/expensive parking issue is easily resolved - abolish free parking. I can see why you say that, but it was considered at a town close to where i live and it had to be abandoned due to the uproar. One problem was that in small towns there is lots of potential street parking a short walk fro...

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/oct/30/butter-nonsense-the-rise-of-the-cholesterol-deniers That article is a fine example of how science is not a nice linear accumulation of more facts but rather a series of revolutions in which whole swathes of what was previously "known" i...

Re: Do you have experience of FAZUA Evation?

You can remove the battery in a few seconds on almost all ebikes. The FAZUA allows you to remove the motor as well (all together with the battery). Not my kind of riding though, so no experience of the device itself. Not really the case that the battery in the down tube of Orbea, Ribble and similar...

Re: Do you have experience of FAZUA Evation?

I'm expecting in the next year to succumb to an Ebike for road, so am trying to keep up with all developments and look at all possible choices. Recently I came upon the FAZUA Evation system. It seems to be a bit heavier than the Ebikemotion rear hub system, but has the advantage of being able to re...

Re: Can we finally agree that building roads increases congestion?

.........The problem is that the busses don't run from where people live to where people work ...... like I said. Make smaller busses, frequent too, and go everywhere all the time. Make them cheap, make them plentiful, and people will use them.... We seem to be in agreement. Your complaints are sim...

Re: ** The General Election Thread **

Seems the Tories are rerunning Brexit with nothing substantial to offer Their entire campaign seems to befalls accusations about Labour, and trying to outbid with the bribes to the Voters Quite! Perhaps people need to look, and not very closely at that,at the Tories track record over past ten years ...

Re: Can we finally agree that building roads increases congestion?

How can you get to work or the shops without a car? Bus? Walk? What if those methods aren't available? What if there are no busses? What happens if there's no alternative? Perhaps we should all live in towns and cities where public transport is plentiful and cheap? As for the fuel price escalator, ...

Re: Buses (and coaches).. why?

Just got back from our weekend away and used the local bus service on two consecutive days. On each outward journey, the drivers waited patiently for Mrs.C to get seated after hobbling down the aisle with one crutch. We were advised to ask to get dropped off near to our caravan park on both return ...

Re: Can we finally agree that building roads increases congestion?

If they increase the fuel duty more and more, it would be a vote loser to start with. Also, you would be penalising the people who NEED a car. How can you get to the shops, to work, get the children to school without a car? Eeee, me mam managed it between 1949 (when she had me) and 1997 (when she d...
