Re: Spokes for front hub motor

Ryanbuildwheels a very good call.
I placed an order yesterday for a rear hub lace and for some reason my ebay message to them was deleted on their side so received a call this afternoon to confirm spoke length and they are now in the post.
So top service from them.

Re: E-bikes: depressing or what?

Although stupid the 15.5 mph and 250w limits were adopted from Japan where I believe the likes of Panasonic first produced in any number hub motors where from there on in Western Europe accepted and adopted them as the standard, though for many years the UK only had a legal 200w limit and was only o...

Re: Front Light for daytime

As long as I have a light on the bike not really bothered about what it does and doesn't do, better then having none which if often the case esp at night.

Re: Taken the plunge.

Which supplier did you use/ buy it from and which power version ?
The TSDZ2 is by all accounts a more intuitive and a better ride feel then the Bafang BBS.

Re: Dealing with verbal abuse

It doesn't take much for them to be labelled halfwits as it so very often comes naturally, best not to sink to their level of upper aspiration.

Re: How do you Deal with the Cold Winds?

A buff works well to keep chill wind off the neck and face, easy to adjust for various fits also as a summer legionnaire's head wear to prevent neck burn or sun/heat stroke.
For hands I wear silk ski gloves under a thicker winter glove for toastie hands.
Feet are my biggest issue to keep warm.

Re: E bikes - do you secretly want one?

Mileage is only limited by battery capacity or ah. I simply take extra capacity and it goes in a top rack bag with drop down panniers, the drop downs hold my food, tools and spares. I use Lipo's and also make up or buy 18650 soft packs with bms charge and discharge feature which is easier and safer,...

2 converted bikes, 2 from scratch and one a rare bike.

This one looks interesting? http://www.50cycles.com/electric-bikes/kalkhoff-bikes/durban_compact_8g.html "Magnesium alloy forks" would sound alarm bells for me... That Kalkhoff with hub drive will be fine, don't contemplate any with Impulse 11 drive as the darby german made motor is diabo...

Re: Calorie burning

Cutting out the sweets/biscuits & cakes can be drastic unless you have will power, I like these as well. Since September I decided to reduce the amount of these I ate and only eat as a small treat instead. As a driver now in my occupation sandwiches are often the main meal 3 or 4 times a week so...
