Can anyone recommend a dry lube for me to use for my daily commuter mtb please.
Only really used wet lube but getting fed up of the black muck constantly on the chain.
Thanks guys

Re: Please recommend a better chain (than a SRAM pc830)
I’m not sure whether it was my chain routine (which I thought was very good) or the chain quality. But those of you who have read my “gears feel rough” thread will know my pc830 chain lasted less than 200miles/6 weeks with a once weekly clean and wet lube. I cycle 6miles per day (1.5miles x4) throug...

Please recommend a better chain (than a SRAM pc830)
Following my “gears feel rough” thread,I’ve established my current chain choice (SRAM pc830) isn’t going to last me long for my daily commute. Can anyone recommend me a decent lasting chain for my 7x3 21speed giant rock se mtb. Don’t mind spending £15-£20 if it’s going to last a lot longer than my c...

Re: Gears feel rough
Personally I think degreasers etc are a waste of time, and if you end up washing it off with water that doesn't dry out before you re-lube then that will cause early failure. I just wipe the chain with a rag, put a drop of oil on each roller, run the chain round to work the oil in, then wipe the ex...

I used the same amount of links as the original chain

Re: Gears feel rough
I cleaned the chain with a general degreaser called autosmart g101
I dried the chain using a clean towel.
You mention getting the lube to penetrate the bushings? Would I be best submerging the chain in oil for sometime then cleaning as much off as I can before refitting?

Re: Gears feel rough
TBH I think it's the fault of the cheap chain more than anything. That said a lube that penetrates into the chain is a must if you clean off the factory grease(something I always do) Do you think the removal of the factory grease is the main reason my chain has failed so rapidly? My friend at work ...

Re: Gears feel rough
I will describe my chain cleaning routine over the past 5 weeks to see what you all think. . . . . . Obviously I must have been doing something wrong for the chain to last a mere 180miles/5weeks Once per week I would fill my chain bath with a degreaser, run it through the chain for a minute or 2 the...

Thanks for that
How should I clean the chain when dirty?
Should I use the chain bath attachment I have or just wipe the chain with a clean rag?

Re: Gears feel rough
Put new chain on.
Problem resolved.
Can’t believe a chain can last so little time.

Re: Gears feel rough
It has been used in wet and dirty roads most days but cleaned regular and lubed. I’ll put the new chain on. What should I do with the new one with regards to lube? It feels very waxy out the box. I'd fit it and run it without decreasing but I'd lube it,keep an eye on the wear if only for experiment...
