Re: I set off.....

Does anyone else suffer from posts disappearing?

I've had several that have appeared on the screen and then later disappeared - including posts by others to which I have responded. Are there dark forces at work here?

Re: I set off.....

For winter riding I watch the weather forecast and if it is going to be raining, I stay in, if it's going to be below 40 F, I stay in, if the wind is going to be more than 15 MPH, I stay in. No problem with going out and having to turn back in those cases.

Re: Wheel sizes vs Handling

Is 700c very different to 27"?

You asked the question and you seem to be answering it as well: :P

The bigger the wheel, the more the effort to swing it side-to-side

he found America that nobody knew was there.

I blame American's destruction of the English language proliferating our airwaves for crap writing and inane thinking.

Re: Wheel sizes vs Handling

Dawes Mixte 501 with 27"

Did you ride this bike before the wheel change and if so how does the bike differ from that ride? Comparing bikes to bikes rather than wheel to wheel is more applicable.

Re: Really creepy experience cycling home tonight (I did solve the mystery eventually)

Recently I had a jackdaw swoop down and scratch my head with its claws when I was walking on a busy pavement in Edinburgh

Now if you had been wearing a helmet.... :P

Re: Saddles (Probably Again)

If you've tried lowering the nose of the saddle but to no effect - doing so though will put extra strain on the arms if the angle is too steep but a fraction of an inch at a time is recommended - I suggest you investigate nose-less saddles. I'll see if I can find any info on these and post.

Re: AGM Motion for 2019

makes it easy for them to believe that the cyclist probably deserved it for being such a risk taker when they collided with the lorry. Good point. Suggesting to the motoring public that cycling is 'inherently' dangerous and risky will give them the response that they are doing public works by conde...

Re: AGM Motion for 2019

This is a completely unnecessary motion, and I expect the sole aim is to push a personal point of view - which is hardly in the spirit of inclusion and fair mindedness. The heading should have been : "I want a mandate to force others to do as I want".

Re: Fear.

The motorists you come across who are A holes, are probably the same people who bully sales assistants and waiting staff.

No question about that. A holes are A holes no matter the situation.
