Re: LeJog on the NCN | Leaving in September | Is there ANYTHING else that I should know?

According to your East of England Cycling Club page, the temperature there now is 58F, is that right? That's bloody cold!

As of this moment, here at 3 in the afternoon it is 98F. I'd better bring some warm weather clothes for my ride in a months time.

Re: Record attempt scheduled

IMO it's simply not worthy of entry!

I agree, this is nothing to do with cycling as a sport.

Re: LeJog on the NCN | Leaving in September | Is there ANYTHING else that I should know?

Just to make my life a little easier because nobody likes getting lost. I am of the opinion that if one has a good sense of where you are - know where north is? - then getting lost is never a problem in fact at times can be quite rewarding. Are you any good at orienteering? If so, it can give you a...

Re: Record attempt scheduled

I hope this thread isn't going to sink down into the helmet debate. Some of us - me for instance - believe they are a sensible choice and I don't harangue about it, so please let's not go down that road.

Re: Record attempt scheduled

Mick's bike is really a bits and pieces bike. Steptoe would have been proud.

Re: Record attempt scheduled

I do wonder how comfortable - or bearable - that saddle would be for 1,000 miles.

James,

I suspect you now know more about this event than anyone else on here wants to know or even cares about.

So, one has to ask, was the purpose of using the chopper one of finances or challenge or eccentricity or all of the above?

Re: Record attempt scheduled

I'm not one to be much interested in cyclists who ride LeJog to set a record particularly when they have a following vehicle to keep them protected on the faster routes so that they can actually ride the faster routes and not the meandering way most of us have to engage in. I find I am so much more ...

Re: Best time for LeJog

I well remember on a return visit to Norfolk having been in the States for a few years and acclimated to the warmer weather here and going onto the beach at Gt. Yarmouth and seeing a bloke there wearing a singlet and shorts and I was covered head to foot in a thick overcoat and still was shivering. ...

Re: Accomodation booked, one last look at route?

We don't go through Preston, we start the day at Leigh and go north to Blackburn. I'm just getting into the route and from what I can make out they (Peake) take us off every main road and stick us on every byway there is. I'm getting dizzy just looking at the route/cue sheets. If you hear of a crazy...
