Not a big risk but passengers can get to cars unattended during the crossing. When I used to cross (Brittany Ferries Portsmouth/Caen route) every crossing I'd always go to my car once mid-crossing unsupervised.

I'm curious as to why you went to your car mid crossing every time.

So, back to my question- where do other people see it in their Garmin connect account? I was thinking it might be in my inbox or in my routes,

MrsHJ wrote: 19 May 2024, 3:45pm Idiot question - where does the file land when I click on “send to Garmin connect”. I’m borrowing him indoors very old laptop as it’s the only functional computer with the right connections for my old Garmin so it could be taking some time. Can someone point me toward a “how to” section on it on cycle.travel- I’m sure it’s somewhere in there.
When I send a route to Garmin Connect I open the Garmin Connect app on my phone and it is there under More - Training and Planning - Courses. There is probably an equivalent in the PC/Web version of Garmin Connect.
I don't actually see a file anywhere.
Once I have confirmed it is in the app I can power on my Edge Explore and sync it with the phone app. The route is now on the Edge

Large and extra large mean different things to different manufacturers. Go in to Halfords and ask to try one.

How old are the brakes/how long have you had them?
What (if any) servicing have they had and when? (so bleeding, change of pads etc)
And as others have mentioned, what's the feel of the brakes? Are the levers pulling back to the bar?

Cheers!
Pads changed last month

NOT spongy just effort needed
Have they always been like that or were they ok once?

I read 'let them go...' as the common use of 'let' to introduce a third person imperative, not the use of 'let' meaning to allow.
A quick google suggests the main example of this is:
Let them eat cake!

Is that the form you mean? I know that didn't end well for the speaker [a woman as I recall] ... :-/
To quote from Wikipedia "Although the phrase is conventionally attributed to Marie Antoinette, it can actually be traced back to Jean-Jacques Rousseau's Confessions in 1765, 24 years prior to the French Revolution, and when Antoinette was nine years old and had never been to France. The quote was only attributed to her decades after her death, and historians do not believe that she said it'

Re: bean to cup machine

simonineaston wrote: 1 May 2024, 9:19pm The funny thing about my b2c jobbie is that while (I eventually find out) it does give the user control of many of the parameters that affect the product, they're - all of them - without any scale to refer to readily. Some quite fundamental parameters aren't even listed very clearly on the instructions! So while it turns out that I can alter both the water temp. / amount and the coffee grind / amount, you're flying blind as the controls have nothing but arbitrary markings.
Those who really care, who don't include myself among their numbers, take to removing the coffee puck as well as weighing the resulting shot in order to note the effect of changes and to calculate the all-important "yield ratio"... however in my view, life is just too short for such shenanigans.
And I appreciate too why the machine is what it is. To up the ante and include controls accurate enough to calibrate & measure reliably would require standards of manufacture that would propel the price waaaaay above what most folk would pay for what is marketed as a convenience product. Indeed, I was mildly amused to note that models like mine are often considered likely to be bought by the less discerning of the two coffee drinkers making up a typical couple (no gender assumptions here...) the more discriminatory individual being more likely to invest in "proper" equipment.
That sounds like my De Longhi Magnifica. I watched a very good YouTube video the other day and learnt a lot about how to adjust it to make the coffee I want.
The other interesting thing was that, in the opinion of the presenter, spending more money won't get you better coffee, just more bells and whistles.

You need to know if your shifter is compatible, do both derailleurs need the same cable pull to shift?

I'm sure someone will be along soon who knows.

Wrong sort of steel or hardening process?
That rings a bell with me.
I'm away at the moment but when I get home and replace the chain (it's on a 2x10 speed) I will inspect it. I don't remember if it has a quick link or if I used a chain tool, but that might be relevant

Just to check - are you sure that you're selecting "Lancaster, Lancashire" from the autocomplete, and not "Lancaster, Pennsylvania"? cycle.travel might not know what country your IP address is in, and if it doesn't, it might put the American one at the top of the list.
I'm pretty sure I wasn't. Lancaster PA is the third option, after Lancaster, Lancs and Lancaster Gate, but it is working today.
I wonder if, because I was in a different place yesterday I had a different IP address and the order was different, without me noticing.

I was checking over one of my bikes the other day and found a broken side plate on the chain. I will replace the chain before riding it again so won't suffer from a broken chain. I would like to know what caused it, but have no idea how to diagnose the cause

Re: Cycle Travel Question

I just asked cycle.travel (using Edge on an Android phone) for a route from Lancaster to Grange-Over-Sands but it told me that it can't plot a route over the sea
This was from the home page. If I try it from https://cycle.travel/map it works

Edit
Grange-Over-Sands to Lancaster works from the home page
