Re: Someone to ride with

There's a company called Trailbreak that organises offroad rides and they have one coming up in your area on 4 July. Though people travel from afar for their rides there may well be some local people too. I have done this particular one with my children in the past and we met some very nice people o...

Re: Better lighting set-up for a Brompton

I have a T5 and changed the standard bottle dynamo for a Schmidt hub dynamo and Cyo combination recently. The Cyo bracket is too high for the luggage block but fits neatly with the standard Brompton bracket. I have seen a Cyo bracket (in my LBS) bent to fit - see first picture - it not only has to b...

Suspension

Your main problem on a budget suspension is likely to be a huge weight penalty, best to stick to rigid and comfier tyres.

Mudguards

The SKS ones are good but they do cost. At Wiggle they have them listed in all their sizes. This might help you source a cheaper version of the right size elsewhere.

Thanks Mick - just found an English threaded 111 Chorus at Parker Intl I have a Record 102 (that the triple is replacing!) - lovely piece of engineering - but my son has inherited that!

The Phil Woods look lovely, but yes, the price!

Campy Chainset

Thank you!

The 10 speed chainset that I got was this one, which seemed too good to miss for a Record!

Campagnolo 10 speed chainset compatability

I have a 10 speed campag chainset with "10 speed ultra drive" on the rings. Can I use this with a 9 speed chain and other 9 speed components? I thought I read on here some time ago about inserting washers between the chainrings to widen the spacing.

Thanks

Trailerbike

We have used a Burley for about 10 years and should get another year or so out of it with our youngest. The mount is rock solid (unlike those that attach to seatposts) and very well constructed. The attachment to the rack is profiled so that you can still add full panniers to the towing bike, but yo...

Well done Mick! I enjoyed Clive James' comment on the BBC A Point of View programme last Nov "I myself swear too much in private company, and swear far too much when I am alone and the last light bulb goes out. But when I watch my words, I realise that I have fallen back on a swearword for effe...

Yes, been there and they should be fine for a group. They have a good terrace outside the cafe and large lawn areas.

Glasses

I am a fan of optilabs too. They sorted my varifocal prescription with an astigmatism thrown in for good measure and they work well whether using drops or uprights.

CTC shop

I would echo Mick F's post, but worse.

I bought 3 sets of SKS race blades discounted to £83 for the ordinary Wiggle Customer. The poor old CTC customer has to pay £92!

Wheelbuilding

I've just bought some from Chain Reaction Cycles. They had some good bargains on hubs and rims in their Flood Sale and they too carry DT spokes. I don't think they have as many sizes as Edinburgh but they were very helpful in making sure I got what I needed
