Re: Using washing up liquid to clean your chain and gears

I ordered the WD40 degreaser. I will give it a go and feedback after I’ve tried it.

Re: Changing from 1st to 12th

Okay update. I have now figured out how to set up my Di2 shifters so that when I go from large to small ring and vise versa it will automatically drop or add 3 cassette gears. Tomorrow I’m out riding so I will give it a go and give you some feedback when I get home.

I would be interested to find out some more about that?

Re: Maximum speed on a Road Bike

I think dragging any brakes is a bad idea. Hot rims or hubs can also cause failures. Personally, I tend to slow above 30mph because I think a sudden puncture would then hurt too much. The hill I was on had quite a few bends and without a doubt I could have quite easily hit 80 kph......... I’m guess...

But isn't this obvious, have I missed something?
maybe obvious to you but not to me hence the initial question. I’m just trying to learn the best way to operate the bike without screwing up.
I’ve got it now....... thanks

Re: Maximum speed on a Road Bike

One thing I would advise against is dragging your brakes for any length of time especially if they're hydraulic discs as you may boil the fluid and end up with no brakes at all, better to pulse the braking(let the bike run a little brake to bring the speed under control then let it run again and rep...

Using washing up liquid to clean your chain and gears

Sorry for the possible stupid question. Is it okay to use washing up liquor to clean your gear set and chain or is there something else more professional.

Changing from 1st to 12th

Something got me thinking today so I will ask the crowd. When going up hill while changing gears from say 8 to 1 but once you get to 1 you now need to drop the front ring to the smaller ring........ how do you go about that because you will then be going to the very easiest gear instead of the next ...

Maximum speed on a Road Bike

Today I nearly hit 60 kilometers an hour and could have easily smashed that as I was braking the whole time going down the hill....... What would be a safe maximum speed for a 61 year old on a road bike???! After today I do t think I would like to go much quicker than that anyway. Neil I'm a trendy ...

When I ordered my Trek Madone back in September I was nearly 19 stone, I am currently 17 stone and my golf is 15 Stone. Without a doubt my uphill riding is getting easier as I have already lost 1/2 a sack of spuds, if I can loose the other 1/2 a sack by the end of March I will be a very happy man......
