CampinGaz adaptor

Hi all

I have a screw fit stove that I use for camping.

Is it possible to get an adaptor to allow me to use a CamlingGaz push and twist style canister?

Would make gas supply more easy.

Not sure they had a choice. Government require BBC to put services out to competitive tender and the Met Office was nowhere near.

Perhaps the BBC should be put out to tender.
Quite a lot of it is. The law now requires between 25 and 50% shows to be made by Indies.

Re: Merging GPX files

Can you not just use notepad, copy the trackpoints from the track in one file and paste on to the end of the list in the second?

Definitely, just remember not to mistakenly praise the wrong local bier or get in to the whole "ossie" vs "wessie" thing.

Seriously though - for the price, they're really good. Manufacturer is "Red Cycling Products". Bikester seem to be cheapest to sell to the UK - but sell pannier and rain cover seperately.

Here it is fully loaded at Koln on the Rhine. I hope that this gives you inspiration.

Love Köln during Karneval. i'm working up to doing the Rhein Radweg next summer. What make butterfly bars are you using, I'm contemplating upgrading to them.

Re: Tour bike setup and Equipment

I tried a rucksack last year on a short trip with German friends. Afterwards, one of them bought me these panniers and sent them to the UK:

Think they were 40Euros with a rain cover.

They're not 100% waterproof (especially since I sewed a CTC badge on :D ) but they work well. I have a plastic rubble bag in side each "leg" and then store clothes and food in sandwich bags.

The top bag has a helmet net, plus it zips off and has shoulder straps, it's ideal for sightseeing and going to the shops.

Re: First aid kit?

I do carry a small one on all rides, because I take blood thinners and even a small nick takes ages to stop without the clotting stuff I bought in the US.

Re: Along the Thames - upstream from Richmond

I did a similar route last year - didn't use a ferry, but ended up back on the Middlesex bank for the ride in to Staines. Must have crossed over at Chertsey.

If you want to go on past Staines, cross over back to Surrey at Staines, then ride through Runneymede, past the Magna Carta site and in to Old Windsor, then go to Datchet or Eton and Windsor Riverside for a train home.

PS, all of the route is cycleable - there are some muddy parts - in the Royal Parks, you have to stay on the paved areas. Worst case, you may have to push for a 100m or so past the muddy sections. The only bike fall I've ever had as an adult was in Richmond - after a high tide the Georgian riverfront can be slippy.

Under section 24 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 a police officer can arrest
anyone that he/she believes has committed an offence, is committing an offence or is
about to commit an offence. He/she also has to consider that the arrest is necessary
for one of a number of reasons, including to get the person’s name and address,
because he/she doubts that the name or address given are correct, to prevent injury or
damage to property or to allow for the prompt and effective investigation of an offence.

Probably not worth the hassle.

I think when the Royal Parks Constabulary was subsumed in to the Met in 2004, their budget and responsibilities were ring-fenced. So the Met may not be investigating low-level crimes, but the Parks Police (in their branded vehicles) still do.

Re: Newcastle Ferry - Newcastle - Tyndrum

The Novocastrian dialect shares a lot of phraseology with Hanseatic German and Scandinavian due to the past and is the nearest to old English, but yes it does take some getting used to.

There's a large number of Georgian and Regency buildings that are worth an explore plus some Roman and Medieval if you know where to look.

The cycle route in is mainly along the older industrial Riverside.
