Re: Caliper vs Cantilever brakes

Before I bought a new bike last christmas I was wondering about the same thing, specifically the stopping power. As I commute with panniers and intend to eventually do some touring I was considering the options. I went for a MK3 with dual pivots and the power is excellent, even with loads. I have ca...

Re: Escort Duties

I'm always happy to accompany people around the peak district. It just depends on if you come through or what route you come. Since I'm near sheffield I doubt that most people would pass close enough for me to see them along. But if you're doing another tour or ride I'm always up for a spin if I'm f...

Re: Trailer drag and aerodynamics

Yes I suppose the weight is the biggest factor as you notice load the most when going uphill. I was mainly thinking about when cycling on the flat or indeed into a headwind. I seem to remember reading something from CF that put a percentage to the amount they said trailers were faster than panniers....

Not trying to hijack the thread, but PW how do you find changing from the 38 to 24 tooth on your tourer and what mech and shifter are you using?

Re: Parking??

Bristol Parking I applaude your concerted efforts and campaigning. Last night I went out and cut my bike and all it's parts into small pieces which I then melted down and used to form a ramming device that I fitted to my car. It's placed at an ideal height for cyclist, pedestians, horse riders and e...

Re: Adventurer childrens trailers advice please

I don't have the Adventurer trailer but we do have an two seater that we got from a friend. If you're not planning on ever having more than one child in it at a time then I would def go with the one seater. I have to collapse mine to get it in and out the shed and through the garden gate. Since we'r...

Trailer drag and aerodynamics

Reading Mick's posts of the unfortunate events of his tour has gotten me thinking about trailers again. I have a plan to build one this winter and I like the look of the new CF hitch so my hopes have been bolstered. I was thinking though about what effect the trailer has on you aerodynamically, more...
