Re: SSAFA Ride to the Somme helmet policy
I always wear a helmet and if an event said I couldn't Wear it I wouldn't do the event. I also wouldnt be particularly bothered by it either tbh

Re: SSAFA Ride to the Somme helmet policy
I'm ex army and can see why people would like to raise money for ssafa. maybe its because I wear a helmet anyway that this seems like a non issue to me. I'm nor pro or anti helmet tbh having received a fractured skull whilst wearing one I can see arguments both ways though I'm sure I was protected from lacerations if nothing else as I slid but I still finished up in icu so swings and roundabouts

Re: SSAFA Ride to the Somme helmet policy
I'm not missing the point I just fail to see the problem, if you want to do it wear a helmet if you don't want to wear a helmet do a different event.

Re: SSAFA Ride to the Somme helmet policy
The event isn't compulsory just the wearing if a helmet, if you don't want to wear a helmet don't do the event. If fundraising for ssafa is important to you do it another way if not find an event that doesn't require you to wear a helmet. In life there are tough decisions to be made sometimes, this I'm afraid isn't one of them. Have a nice day

I'm pretty sure most surlys have 132.5 rear ends, even there hubs are 132.5 iirc

I prefer front panniers and a rear saddle bag rather than rear panniers tbh

Legal cover ctc vs bc
I've just been chatting to my home insurance provider and he said I'm covered on my home insurance if I hit someone and they claim but I'm not if someone hits me.
He recommended British cycling as he said the solicitors they use are great and he's used them a few times
I've looked on the cyclinguk site and it looks like it's only telephone help that's actually available. So what's what? Or do they use the same legal bods
So now it's renewal time who's the best to join bc or cycling UK

Re: Pictures of your tents.
I haven't sealed mine yet and it doesn't leak, touch wood. Pole doesn't get in the way at all as it's flush with the inner. I really rate it
