Re: Adult stabilisers
I agree it’s a bit of poor coding wrt dates, but it’s been a lovely surprise for me as the OP to see the posts again & all the interesting & entertaining recent responses. Also the 90 yr old lady in question was delighted when I told her - I didn’t tell her I was posting first time round. So I won’t complain this time

Re: Adult stabilisers
It's rather poignant re-reading these posts - such useful info though. The old lady in question is still with us, rather marvellously, but definitely not cycling these days. However, after these posts she did end up buying a trike that I found her, and she had a lot of fun on it for a while. While I just crashed it into every obstacle going! I have never got the hang of an upright trike, though a recumbent 3 wheeler seems to be a joy to ride.Did you notice the date on all but the most recent posts?

Re: Totnes to Newbury - best cycle route
Thanks for those tips. Rather alarming about the ferry - I shall be avoiding that option!

Re: Totnes to Newbury - best cycle route
Great - thanks, I’ll look into it. I’ve also had MapOut & Map.me recommended.

Totnes to Newbury - best cycle route
Not exactly an expedition, but I suddenly have 2 funerals to go to in a few days; first one is near Totnes, the second is near Newbury. The short notice and failure to come up with a reliable route via Komoot, OS etc etc means I thought it would be quicker to ask the knowledgeable folk here.
I can get down to Totnes by train but would like to cycle camp en route up from Totnes to make the most of the several days I have before reaching Newbury.
I can go reasonably off road on my Roughstuff tourer, but it will be a traditional self-contained trip with panniers rather than bike packing. I suffer from long covid so am much slower these days!
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Re: Board Appearance Change
Thanks for getting back
Replying to the thread seems fine, it's private messages that are the problem - I can't see how to send one directly from the post, so try to send directly to their account name. It's from there that people have said they can't see the initial private message, or I simply don't hear anything at all. However, I am able to respond to PM's once they arrive in my message box. Obviously operator error
I'm a bit sad about the changes and restrictions to the board appearance options - apart from anything else I find the current options quite difficult to read (I'm not dyslexic or generally have problems reading). What was the rationale behind it?

Board Appearance Change
Am I right in thinking that the Board layouts have been changed? I can't see how to change back to the layout I'm used to in the board preferences - it only seems to give Cycling Uk light or dark options.
More urgently, I can't see how to directly reply to posts, and people are not seeing my PMs. I'd appreciate any pointers in this direction.

Is there a link to the crowdfunder to cough up out contributions? Apologies if it's obvious, it's hard to see on a mobile

+ me too for £10 - this should be in a museum, ideally with public demonstrations on request!

Re: Solid shampoo bar
I use a coconut solid shampoo ( can't remember the name but got it in local wholefood shop, brown cardboard packaging - Amphora brand?) It's very good, lasts for ever & doesn't dry my hair or skin out at all. It crumbles but I just squashed the lumps into a small screw-top tin. Light, handy & miraculously doesn't leak even when wet. (I smear the stuff onto my hair straight from the tin...)
