I suppose most of us have to move sometime for a job but the wonderful " workforce flexibility" that economists like could be a major cause of traffic. Stable employment for green transport !

err navigator you claim that
the 30mph limit has worked well for 70 yrs.it is based on percentiles and logic not emotion and pseudo science.
Are you claiming no injuries on the roads in the last 70 yrs ? If not what do you mean by "worked well" ?

I think that the reason speed cameras cannot be used to enforce 20mph is that this use is not yet sanctioned by the Home office. The Parliamentary Committee on Transport Safety in their recent report :

Traveling from Swansea to London via Crewe on Friday - FRW trains had been suspended - showed the flexibility of Arriva and Virgin guards in accepting unbooked bikes ( much appreciated ) but also that 4 bikes could fit into the space marked as holding a maximum of 2 without encroaching on the gangway.
