Re: Bike stand - secure handlebars

Apologies 1st for hijacking the thread
But can ANDYK please advise on this as he broached it somewhat
I have s seldom used mtb bike that rides ok but I noticed when I took hands off tbe bars it veered to left ??
I myself renewed the headset as a matter if routine and I'm not a bike mechanic but reasonably mechanically minded
So does andyk believe I have a serious issue with headset and I can attempt to correct it
I got the headset from the shop ,,,reused cups
Its was installed with a unior press bought for that and used only on that

Thanks all

Re: Newcastle - Bridlington

Try the gardens and cafe at wynyard hall just to the east of the NC1 track that passes along side
Nice short detour through a copse and a jolly around the nice houses and golf course
You can also have posh cakes in the hall itself if you wanted
Wynyard hall being the weekend retreat of lord Londonderry and now more recently sir john hall of NUFC fame/noteriarty...whichever colours you wear

Re: Schrader to Presta Converter?

I'm not totally sure about the valve in the photo ....but dont you just unscrew the front cover to expose the rubber washer ...take this rubber washer out and turn it the other way round ....this changes from schrader/presta

Re: C2C - Workington to Sunderland

I done both hadrians and c2c in one day
I used rd bike all way on hadrians
On c2c I swapped the rd bike out at rookhope for the mtb bike ...you can do the train lines on a rdy as it's nearly all tarmac now except park head station
As mentioned the tricky bit is around consett after the track and until you rejoin at Anfield plain
I also used the south shiekds to park head station as a training route on a cyclone cross bike with 28mm tyres
So not a big deal different from a rdy
If you want to bash on in a day I would do the Sunderland finish as it's a fast as you can go downhill ( dodging pushchairs etc ) from Anfield plain to washington
It's good mental mind games as well as once you do rookhope or crawleyside you have cracked it
You still have 30odd miles to go but when you know the route well it's all good for the mind
Good luck with it
Either route is a good ride in reality
Sunderland fir a fast blast
Newcastle tynemouth for a bit scenery n beer stops

Re: South from Newcastle

The coastal route from south shields to roker is 9mikes totally off rd scenic and compact dolomite
From roker it's on coast of to ryhope which is relatively qwei but hey it's a rd
Alternativy you can pick up route 70 through the city on off rd tarmac then divert at failsworth park to NC1 which will pit you out at ryhope avoiding the coast rd
The NC1 from ryhope to the end at Stockton is 23miles of abandoned railway with good surface and totally off rd
Great cafe at the end
Wynyard hall for a real posh cafe
Stockton is as far as I been on NC1 but with some planning g it's not long before you can be at great ayton and lots of nice rds and trax in Yorkshire, areas
Good luck and well done in your battle against long covid

But the HEN HOLE below the cheviot hill at the end if the COLLEGE VALLEY seems what you are after

Re: Good Bike repair guide

Bonzo has sound advice there for the home/beginner mechanic
I got a used zinn book off Amazon around £3
It is good but just a generalisation
Park videos are great but I keep pausing and stopping
The shimano helping is great as it only applies to uour exact component ...that goes for any other manufacture as they have online advice just for that
I'm not computer savvy and it takes me a while to pin piont the exact page I'm after in shimano docs
