Re: What do you do to cheer yourself up (apart from cycling)

OP, hmm, that's interesting. Does the spec for your tablet mention anything about special coatings on the glass? (I believe some have them so as not to show up greasy finger marks). It leaves me wondering 1) why it happens 2) what uses it might be put to (other than gambling) 3) whether anyone else ...

Re: Grease gun in Lidl

Mick, I didn't fit the grease cartridge inside the aluminium barrel, I just transfered the contents of one to the other, as I tried to describe above. Thinking about it, what I wrote above might have been misleading. What I meant to say was that the internal diameter of the aluminium barrel, the int...

Re: Advice on cycle parking/bike shed

In another thread Mark1978 wrote: Just read through that thread; depressing reading. I know you've left now but do you know what happened in the end, if anything? I live too far from work to cycle, but it does have a massive car park outside, but no bike racks of any description. Some people do cycl...

Re: Cycling Policy for work

I and my cycling colleagues had a bad experience with a former employer which you might want to try to avoid. I agree with Pete Owens that cycle security is critical. I can put up with a lot of crap so long as I know that my cycle is going to be where I left it and undamaged when I am getting ready ...

Re: All Party Parliamentary Cycling Group.

I was wondering if there are any transcripts yet of the meetings. I tried to find it myself but I mustn't be looking looking in the right place. Is this something that Hansard would do? Or is "twitter" a replacement for that and if so what section of twitter do I look at? (Edit to answer m...

Re: Oops....

I have only just looked at the video, though I have been reading the posts.

My thought was "You can turn or you can do an emergency stop but you can't turn and do an emergency stop at the same time". I don't know if that is true on a recumbent trike. It is definitely true on an upright.

Re: Grease gun in Lidl

jrb's syringe looks like it is a more practicle size that the one I showed. I wonder if you could use the large one to fill the smaller one. Mick F, if you do get the Lidl gun, I found that the bore of the Lidl gun and the grease cartridge were pretty much the same. I put the opened cartridge and th...

Grease gun in Lidl

I was in the High Wycombe branch of Lidl when I spotted a sealant gun that they were selling for £4 along with seperate tubes of silicon sealant. But it struck me that it might well work as a grease gun. It has an aluminium barrel and screw on caps at either end. I bought one on spec. It turns out i...

Re: Wild northumberland roads- cycling access?

By far the highlight of the Peninne trail ( route 62?) which i did 2 years ago, was Northumberland. I am therfore going back this easter in search of more. I am already whistfully putting my route together. There are two roads either side of the a68, that i would like to use. The first ( from the w...

Re: butane phone charger

They don't prevent all sorts of things which "could be repurposed" The only thing that makes a lithium battery safe is the thermal fuse. Replace that fuse with a nail and you will get plenty of heat and light when you short it out. It still even functions as a battery in the mean time. Ed...

Re: Andrew Mitchell MP

Thanks TC, that's an interesting read. I'll have a re-read of your earlier posts. I asked by brother about this (He enjoyed you post when I pointed him to it). He made the following point: Andrew Mitchell has been using weasel words, " I did not use the words attributed to me" and "I ...

Re: Andrew Mitchell MP

TC's last link to the news item on the BBC says that there are thirty police officers looking at this. I take it that that is a lot of resources, yes? Will some senior police officer have decided to make sure someone looks at this or has someone else with a lot of clout told them to get on with it o...
