Re: Is Trump Mad?

there is a lot of leaders out there far worse than trump who still have the freedom of free speech through twitter. Banning trump seems very political to me. Did he really incite violence, he called on people to march on parliament and be strong. Being able to march on parliament is the norm in all ...

Re: Is Trump Mad?

We're hearing about Trump but it's good not to be hearing from him. Is it good that the social media giants are regulating our politicians? should it not be the other way around? It may be all well and good to have one silenced we don't care for, but the day may come when they silence the ones we d...

Re: Covid-19 : 2nd Lockdown 2020 : 3rd Lockdown 2021

Mother lives in coastal northumberland, she loved the first lockdown as the place was deserted, hardly a soul about (most houses are either holiday lets or selfish homes) This weekend past she says the place has been packed with car parks overflowing, folk rattling the doors of cafes wondering why t...

Re: Covid-19 : 2ndthe Lockdown 2020 : 3rd Lockdown 2021

My car is also subject to a recall to replace an airbag that might go off like a bomb, it was booked to go into the garage in March 2019, the week lockdown began, but I thought why take the risk so cancelled it, not knowing it would still not be done. Nissan then arranged for the RAC to fix them on...

Re: Did you clap this time round - or last time?

Wow... the BBC quote ONS data. And we immediately get to "possible nonsense", "brainwashing" and factors other than salary. When you'd quoted a recruitment agency as a reliable source! it would appear that before overtime a nurse with a bit of experience will be on 33-35K (about...

Re: Did you clap this time round - or last time?

it would appear that before overtime a nurse with a bit of experience will be on 33-35K (about 45% higher than average uk income)... That doesn't sound accurate to me. It's probably best to use medians because of the skewed distribution, and to take into account the small number of nurses in senior...

Re: Tier 4 exercise limits

Brucey ww2 deaths in Britain 450000. Just saying. Not that there's any helpful equivalency between the two, but if we've had 80000 deaths in one year of the coronavirus in the UK that would be 480000 deaths over six years at the same rate. So the death rate in the UK is higher than that of the Seco...

Re: Did you clap this time round - or last time?

are nhs doctors and nurses poorly rewarded ? it would appear that before overtime a nurse with a bit of experience will be on 33-35K (about 45% higher than average uk income) and doctors about treble that https://www.nurses.co.uk/nursing/blog/a-quick-overview-of-nurses--salaries-in-the-uk-in-2020/ h...

Re: Tier 4 exercise limits

I am continuing to ride, I am still even driving a little out of town first so I can access quiet roads and avoid a busy one. I am limiting how far from home I go, international rescue (the wife) has made it very clear she is not driving 20 - 30 mile to rescue me esp from the other side of the borde...

Re: Is Trump Mad?

i thought the flag was something to do with country music - I know someone who is a big country and western fan, they head off to venues dressed as cowboys and have confederate flags on their camper van - or at least I thought they were going to country and western shows, may be not. Learn something...

Re: Tier 4 exercise limits

the reports say a police car and van were at the scene, so I will guess at 4 officers, if they stood socially distanced apart around the women then i could imagine it being a little intimidating. I find the whole thing massively disproportionate, why are Derbyshire police putting so much resources i...

has any cyclist ever been stopped, warned, fined for breaching covid regulations ? I just can not imagine the ploice bothering with a solitary cyclist pedalling along a quiet country road.

Re: Cycling, covid and the immune system

Being outdoors on the bike from spring to autumn also means cyclists are making plenty of vitamin D, which is a crucial component of the immune system and has been shown in studies to reduce severity of infections including Covid 19. It would be wise to take vitamin D supplements during the winter ...

Re: Cycling, covid and the immune system

So my question: covid and cycling - what is the relationship for you between the two? Covid has enabled my biggest ever annual mileage :D I guess more than three bullet points is too many for most people to grasp, and I suspect the experts know there is little chance of getting many to change their...
