Re: Off the Shelf or Self Build

I have just started building something very similar, based on a new Paul Milnes X-Wing cx aluminium frame with canti bosses, a bit of a bargain at £199 delivered to my door. Sorry to hijack, but those are very interesting! Doesn't seem to give rear drop out spacing - is it 130 or 135? 130mm. I have...

Re: Should we celebrate leaving the EU

No. But this is worth a good laugh! Serves 'em right. "A reallocation of council funding could redirect hundreds of millions of pounds from so-called left-behind communities in the north of England to the leafy southern shires, analysis has found, leaving many newly Conservative g-voting “red w...

Re: What is a Gravel Bike?

The name doesn't matter. We see Mountain Bikes that serve a purpose but never see a mountain. We have "race" bikes that never race. And if a Gravel Bike never sees gravel, who cares so long as the bike allows its user to do the rides he/she wants to do? Calling them Road Style Bikes With ...

Re: What is a Gravel Bike?

"...only people who fail to grasp basic human behaviour and don't observe what actually happens in the real world think that more powerful brakes equals greater safety." So reduced to the absurd, no brakes is safe (as long as one rides accordingly). I'm pretty sure I ride in the rea...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

"Brexit will soon have cost the UK more than its combined total of payments to the EU budget over the past 47 years. Bloomberg Economics found the cost of the UK's vote to leave has already reached £130 billion. A further £70 billion is likely to be added by the end of 2020, economist Dan Hanso...

Re: La Vélodyssée as a single female

Of no help with the Q whatsoever, but having been sort of looking for a first (health and prognosis permitting) and last (ditto!) short and easy cycle trip abroad, browsing here I followed the link to Velodysee ...... one of my favourite areas when camping with family 20 - 30 years ago. Looks perfec...
