would it be easy enough to fit a 3 speed from a later/diffferent bike just to make it more useable ? Not looking to spend a fortune just a used wheel from another bike?

Thanks my dad was quite conservative which might explain the straight handle bars i'll have a look at rear wheel tomorrow but guessing it's original

When my dad first owned /bought it he was skint so wondering if it was a poverty spec model or did he get a cheap repair and lose the orginal gears

My dads old bike is about 1954 (from googling frame no) It is a raleigh trent sports . It has straight handlebats and is single speed with 26 1 1/4 wheels . Googling images seem to suggest 3 speed with dropped handles bars > So what i want to know is what is originally correct thanks
