Just thought I'd pick the collective brain..
I'm planning a 3-4 day cycle trip in south Devon in August - and had originally thought about the Devon coast to coast - but the distance from Minehead to the nearest station has put me off, so am thinking about taking the train to Exeter and sticking to South Devon/Dartmoor instead.
Does anyone have any good tips/routes?
I'm a veteran in my 70's so looking to do no more than 35-40 miles a day.

Jim
thanks for your notes.
I look forward with some trepidation to delivery of the new freewheel today.
Am guessing there is no way of telling by spinning it whether it's a good 'un or not...
clearly not possible until tested.
Does removal of the backing plate risk an ''oops there they go'' situation with the balls ?
good to hear from you.
thanks

Percy,
Another thought...
if you can't use the cyclone 13/32, do you want to sell it ?

Re: 6 speed freewheel 32T ?
Ok,
think I will take a flyer on the IRD cyclone, seems to be compatible with the Tourney rear mech RD TY 300..well we'll see.
Apparantly the width at 3cm is the same as the old 14/24 so that should work too.
What could possibly go wrong !
If anyone has a used one lying around.. happy to buy , otherwise it's £60 !

Re: frame respray
My current thinking is powder coating for this project. A vintage Orbit.
Ellis Briggs quoted around £300, for a quality spray job, which isn't bad looking at their work..
Powder coating comes in much cheaper, though limitations are single colour, and no decals, so not so exciting, but a third of the cost.
There seems to be enormous quality variations, but some claim to do bike frames sympathetically.
If I can find a local powder coaters, Bath, Bristol area, I'll go and have a chat.
Thanks for the tips and info...

Re: frame respray
thanks,
I think it's hardwearing.
if the colour is good, maybe the way to go
are there downsides ?

frame respray
Hi there,
Any recommendations for a firm to do respray on a nice steel 531 frame.
Nothing fancy, but a nice clean job in one colour.
Is stove enamelling the way to go ?
I am assuming this is not a job to tackle on the kitchen table...
thank you
