York Rally 2019: 22-23 June

Just a note that the as-yet provisional dates for the York Rally 2019 are 22-23 June 2019 . Those dates are unlikely to change, but we can't confirm completely until the horse racing calendar is released. We'll also be running our 2019 fundraising Sportive on Sunday 28 April 2019 , with 100k and 140...

Re: Chris Juden's talk at the 2017 York Rally

Points definitely taken about projector and audio. We'll have to look into other solutions next time. For the projector, since last year we already found a brighter projector and put the screen under a gazebo within the marquee to try and shade it. But with the sun out on the white marquees there's ...

Chris Juden's talk at the 2017 York Rally

Some on this forum may be interested to note that former CTC technical expert Chris Juden will be giving a talk at the 2017 York Rally , at 5 PM, on Saturday 25th June. Chris says: "The title of my talk will be 'Choose your Discipline!' in which I'll discourse upon how my mission during my time...

Re: Eroica Britannia 2015

I was thinking about the York rally, really! I've heard the ctc were quite well represented at the Eroica Britannia last year, and I've already built my 1960's Peugeot PX10 to perfection ;) Pity they haven't revived the Ron Kitching challenge which used to run on the Saturday of York rally. It had ...

Re: Will York Rally ever make a comeback?

Hi Si, all, On behalf of the new York Rally Committee perhaps I could clarify the situation from our point of view. While appreciating the historic links between the CTC and the Rally, we as a committee are not seeking any assistance with the organisation of the event from the CTC, or indeed from an...

Re: Rules for posting about events

Would it be OK for me to continue to post updates about the York Rally? It is not now a CTC-run event, but it is being run by a purely volunteer committee. And given the CTC's long history with the event we are keen to see many CTC members, local groups and of course the national CTC at the Knavesmi...

Re: York Rally fundraiser Sportive - 21st Sept 2014

And further discussion about *this* year seems a bit pointless, but I hope that this conversation is remembered *next* year. I've drawn this thread to the attention of everyone on the York Rally committee and I'll also mention it at the next meeting (all are welcome, especially those willing to vol...

Re: York Rally fundraiser Sportive - 21st Sept 2014

Thanks Si - your summary is correct. Personally I almost never wear a helmet (sometimes when it's very icy and I'm not on a trike :-) ) so I feel your pain, and we do also recognise the serious implications of compulsion and why people are concerned. But we're a small group of volunteers, not suppor...

Re: Will York Rally ever make a comeback?

Hi Bazza, all, I'm the publicity officer for the York Rally committee which is attempting to revive the event for 2015. Other committee members are as detailed here: http://www.yorkrally.org/about/ We are a group of independent volunteers currently without any affiliation to the CTC or indeed to any...
