I am The Official Cyclist in the congregation. What does that involve? I'm our community's "unOfficial Cyclist" which means I get asked to fix/adjust people's bikes, organise easy-peasey-lemon-squeezey cycle runs with 3 hour pub stops, advise on purchases, comment on Le tour, judge Solomo...

Oooh! I didn't realise I was in the company of so many other fans of The Cure on here! Excellent! So what is your take on the multiple covers of "Just like Heaven" that seem to jump out of every Radio 2 and Radio 6 programme I listen to? Hi, Workhard! Well, I'm assuming that Radio 2 is pl...

AH, now, you see, this isn't me at all! Community singing while on the bike? Cryptic names for the rides? You'll be telling me next that all your bikes have personal names, like Wendy and Cynthia, Bob and Bill. I feel quite nauseous at the the very thought! I must admit I don't feel so well myself ...

The group I cycle with is not an CTC group. It is a 'junior' club, so by definition is going to be about being aware of what those around you are doing. I have found that cycling in a group to be a very positive - even life-affirming - experience. (I was quite taken aback by this the first time, and...

Jan, hi!

As per much of the advice you have already received, I think that a good blog is about how you feel, as well as being about what you do.

Don't forget to post a link to your blog so we can read it.

Good luck!

I think it's a number of things, not least the price of petrol. I think people are realising that they needn't pay gym membership and then pay for fuel to drive to the gym, if they'd cycle in the first instance. If I look at the reasons why we bought bikes - 4 from Halford's in the January sale - th...

As I said on another thread, our local secondary school has promoted Bike Week by bribery! The pupils who committed to cycling for the week were allowed to wear mufti on Monday. And several teachers - most of whom cycle in regularly - all lead rides to school on Monday and then the puplis are making...

Unfortunately school has not bought into the cycling culture, something my husband - a teacher there - is trying to change. They do not run a bike to work scheme for employees. Even year 6 cycling proficiency is outside the school term so will probably be poorly attended. The car park is rammed wit...

Just jealous because I don't live in the Tamar Valley!! http://forum.ctc.org.uk/userpix/109_Tamar_Valley_1.jpg View of the Valley towards us. When we moved in this place, we dug out the garden. (That's our wood over on the top-right) We had difficulty finding where the garden was! We actually found...

Well done to the Gibsons! That is my aim: to cycle to school and to incorporate cycling into our everyday lives. Our mileage is less than yours too, so I feel very inspired by your success. You say you were about to cycle to riding .... does this mean that you are cycling to all extra-curricular act...

Get a (large) bicycle mirror for your right end of the handle bar.F. Absolutely - I've had one for about a month now and don't know how I managed without. I want one of these, too. And in answer to Kirstie07, I found that joining a cycling club and going out with a bunch of people who really know w...

I know this is last year's thread, but I thought I would revive it. So: who is taking part in 'Five Miles to Fabulous' this year? Me! I cycled with one of the Devon rides this afternoon and it was great fun! I ended up doing about 10 miles. In fact, most of us did more than 5 miles. How fabulous are...
