So there's a good chance I'm on my tod when it comes to swinging my leg over the back wheel. As for high kicking over the handlebars - that would definitely be a spectator sport.. You're not on your own ... just did a quick poll and both my children - one boy, one girl - say that they use bot...

I had to check this but: I swing my leg over my bike from the rear - i.e. over the rear wheel. The topbar has no relevance to me. The day I do this I will consider myself ARRIVED!! I'm not normally in a position to observe people getting on and off their bikes so don't know what is normal... Imagin...

I have found this thread very thought provoking and have come to the conclusion that one of the things that all women cyclists can do to encourage other women to cycle ... is to cycle. And to communicate that fact to other women - if necessary. I know that my cycling has encouraged at least three ot...

This a great idea, and I wish you well with it. I don't know whether you have a Co-op near you? But, they are generally very amenable to community schemes. And I would suggest approaching small/independent/alternative/organic type places as these will be the ones to with most to gain. The types of s...

It's the thought that counts though! Unless I'm in a blazing hurry, I always try to stop and ask if a punctured rider needs anything. They never seem to, but are glad of the consideration (I know I am). What's really annoying is when you're swapping tubes and people whizz past with a smug "wet...

Some of the world most famous knitters are blokes: http://www.shanewaltener.com/installations/10/08chihuly_report.html (There's another one whose name I cannot remember - he has published loads of books - Google doesn't seem to be my friend at the minute ...) I'm not interested in knitting, although...

It's a complete fallacy that London has no hills. Despite saying that I've only recently cycled after many non-cycling years, I did go - on the aforementioned Ferrari, with a very experienced cyclist who wouldn't let me take the car - to Trafalgar Square to the demonstration on the night before the ...

Many of choices work in radio. Nuff said.

But, as an ardent Scotophile(??), I should like to nominate Frankie Boyle in the voice department.

In fact, he can go in the irreverent humourist dept, as well.

In fact, how on earth did he get left off my orginal list???

Re: A question for North London cyclists

And no whingeing from the provinces please ;) No mention of an exemption for ex-Larnarnars. (They're a bit like ex-smokers: those who have given it up and seen the light are the worst. ) I left my adopted city for the provinces ... I love the provinces, but I still love London. A friend and ...
