My family has a mix of apple watches and garmin that we use. Distances are always fairly close, but with small differences. Altitude gained is again always similar with differences in the order of a few 10s of feet - hilly round here so usually negligible.
Biggest differences are between the apple and garmin devices, apparantly they use different map systems as a base.

I use a redshift shockstem as well and it works pretty well, taking quite a bit of the vibration out.

Padlocks on Bridges
Interesting in the news about the bridge in Bakewell with 1000s of padlocks on it , used as some strange memorial/commemoration habit. Even someone referring to them today as 'lovelocks'
This seems to have become a strange tradition worldwide, seems like a waste of a padlock to me and looks pretty awful on bridges!
Any supporters of the idea on here?

Re: super front light
I mainly cycle in a very rural area and at night you need a light bright enough to actually see where you are going as there are no street lights at all, this means you can be seen a very long away, however some lights that are designed for off road riding are way too bright even for that and can be really dazzling to other road users.
During the day is different as you only need enough light to help being seen by others, whether flashing or steady. I have been dazzled whilst riding tree lined roads by really bright cycle front lights which is actually self defeating so there is a sensible balance.

There would certainly be no problem cycling or walking to the centres local to me and those in Edinburgh.

Live in a hamlet/village of 5 houses, enjoy a trip to the local major metropolis (Edinburgh) as well though.

Maybe the wheel works if you make sure you bounce up and down on the saddle all the time to create power at the wheel!

It was -3c this morning with a dusting of snow. Sunny and windy this afternoon, been for a nice wee ride with my partner, well clad!
Apparantly -3c forecast here tonight as well.

Re: The Mysteries of Tube Replacement
I have just got some new Mavic rims and there was no way I could have got the tyres on without levers for the last bit. A bit strange as they were the same tyres I had on the old Mavic rims , which went on with just fingers!

Re: should politics be banned on the forum?
I am loving the polite commenting and mild insults on this thread and the forum in general, it is such a refreshing change to many discussions on other social media, where after any initial disagreement posters descend to an amazing exchange of insults which is not PC and can be very educational
