I am 99% certain that the Galaxy is 700 wheels but I would have thought that info must be on their site at least. Can't help with the other stuff.

I ordered one of the msx ones as well on Fri morning and it arrived before 9am on Sat. I had got a pair of their front panniers already and was pretty pleased with the quality and the bar bag looks just as well made. The only issue I have with it is the bar fixing. It is very solid and I am sure it ...

I have recently bought a 2nd hand tourer with drops and shimano brifters. I have never used a normal drop bar bike before. My previous commuter was a road bike with the drops turned upside down and cut off to make bullhorns so the levers were like being on the drops in that you pulled full on the le...

MartinC, thanks for the info on the mini Vs. I thought there might be clearence issues. My bike has 26" wheels and hence quite wide tyres and large mudguards, which could probably be fixed a bit lower. goodlife, I have swapped my front link wire for a hook and straddle wire set lower but haven'...

Interesting that you have gone from the cr520s to mini cantilevers. I am having problems with Tektro oryx mini cantilevers on my bike and am being advised to swap to the cr520/720s :D The reviews of the cr520s all seem very positive and rate them as better than the cantis. See my thread about my pro...

CJ, The new brakes do look nice and I am quite tempted. However, my budget is very limited and I am sufferring from bike fatigue at the moment. I bought a 2nd hand bike intending to tour in europe this year and instead of it being virtually ready to go, as I thought, I just seem to be running into p...

There have been a few threads on outdoorsmagic about these with generally positive reviews considering the price and as long as you are realistic about what the bag is. http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/forum/forummessages/mps/dt/4/UTN/24460/ http://www.outdoorsmagic.com/forum/forummessages/mps/dt/4/UTN/...

Not got one myself but they seem to get reasonable reviews on the outdoorsmagic forum. A quick comment on the size. You say you are 'not petite', but don't say in which direction? ;) From the look of the tent they are two man width but probably not very long and they have little porch space for cook...

I replaced the outers as well. The new frogleg version looks very nice but I have already spent more than I intended so I want to have a go at getting these to work before I splash out on new brakes. I have been recomended elsewhere to try replacing the link wire with a straddle cable for greater ad...

I had thought of wearing it (the gamma has a red led on the back as well) but thought it would obviously move aroung with head movement which might not be so good on a bike. As to a second light on the fork, I was hoping to only take one torch. ps Dean, Is that a topeak barbag on your bike? If so ho...

From what I understand, racks like that allow you to put the panniers on he lower 'rail' as well as the side of the top platform. Could you do that instead? This would avoid the spring altogether.

Headtorch on barbag as front light?

I am looking at getting a bar bag and one of the common problems is fitting a light when the bag blocks the bar. It occured to me today whether it would be possible to simply loop a headtorch over the top of the bag as a light? As I will be camping I would like to take a headtorch anyway so it would...

Weak braking - cantilevers

I have a tour bike with tektro oryx cantilever brakes and brifter levers. The braking is very weak. There is some initial 'bite' which slows the bike but then when I increase pull on the levers the braking force effect doesn't increase as I would expect and it needs a lot of force to do so. The bike...

Daniel, the topeak doesn't look to have a map holder, see front view here; http://www.topeak.com/products/Bags/Compact_Handlebar_Bag I am a complete barbag virgin but I don't have a lot of confidence in the seperate attached map holders. I remember using similar map holders when walking many years a...
