Re: Replacing rim. Odd spoke length variation.
I build wheels with 2 lengths of spokes .One length for the sprocket side of the hub and one length for the other side . The same length whether the spoke is threaded from inside the flange or outside . I would calculate the required spoke lengths just to satisfy myself that the new wheel is good . Also if the spoke lengths are different on the same flange surely it will be more difficult to build the wheel . I tend to count the number of turns to get the wheel roughly set up if some lengths are different length this could make it more difficult.

Re: Broken pulley?
It was a very common problem with Campagnolo Neuvo Record and some Rally rear mechs in the 80's
I have several split jockey wheels always on gears I have bought secondhand . Definitely replace them as others have said as failure can be serious

Re: Geared fixed wheels. SA?
I have 3 bikes fitted with the Sturmey ASC and find it very sloppy compared with a single fixed but I do like unusual old bikes of the 1949 -52 period so it solves the problem of old age and lack of power hill climbing and still ride a fixed .

Re: Looking for Bill Soens
Hi Bill Thank you so much for responding . I will take some pictures of the frame tomorrow and try to post here . My reasoning is thus , every Soens frame that I have seen so far has plain lug work . This frame has ornate lug work filed thin ,,possibly bi laminates . I purchased the frame a few years ago for the sheer beauty of the lugs Since then have been trying to piece together anything I could find about history
