Re: How far out, from the kerb, do I have to ride ?

the advise i was given 60 years ago.is" allways ride as close to the kerb as possable"i do and will continue to do so. The Highway code advice does change, it's advisable to keep up with the new editions, I remember being taught to kerb hug, but I did notice it becoming hazardous due to o...

Re: Cyclist on the road....

That's one way to get drivers to give a wider berth overtaking, for fear of damage to their car. :D

Re: Road rage incident

the cyclist who allegedly responded by hitting the car’s windscreen with his fist causing it to shatter.

I'm surprised he didn't get accused of head butting the screen after throwing himself and his bike at the bonnet of the car.

Met Police officer closely undertakes cyclist

...then tells him he's inconveniencing him (whilst they are both at the next set of red traffic lights, looks like the same Range rover up front from earlier too) http://youtu.be/rMphhd8QCwA Not mine, just wonder what people think of the attitude. Do Police drivers have any better training then the ...

Re: Comparing cyclists rights across European states

But the great thing about a boy racer about to overtake is that you can hear it well before it happens, you know what I mean! ;-) I find the worst overtakes are by the middle aged men in the executive type cars or the posh urban monster 4x4 things. They seem unnecessarily close and aggressive and th...

Re: Velodrome Olympic Magic

To avoid any suggestion of sour grapes, let's consider the men's individual sprint. What is the value of the silver and bronze medals won when the defending champion was a spectator because of invidious manipulation of the rules? Well, exactly, you can't say anything if you loose for fear of being ...

Re: Velodrome Olympic Magic

her final infraction was a necessary reaction to being pushed by Meares. really? i've watched the video a few times and it seems to me that VP went over the line before the alleged elbowing. the officials came to the same conclusion. it seems odd to me that you'd come to the other conclusion having...

Re: Velodrome Olympic Magic

I bet Anna Meares is an Audi/BMW/Urban 4x4 driver when she's not on the bike. that's very unsporting - the judges obviously thought different to you. calling into question the ref's decision is common in other sports. i had hoped not in this one well done anna i say I thought it obvious I was being...

Re: Don't wear a helmet and you could look like this

I am not a young cyclist or an experienced one. I do however subscribe to wearing a helmet and hi-viz clothing....... if the A& E at the hospitals were given a choice to treat or delay treatment to intoxicated people on a bad night out I am sure they would get a lot of moral support from the ge...

Re: Cyclist killed near Olympic park

Poor bloke and the witnesses. I'm sure all have us have gone up the left of a large vehicle at some point, I was almost tempted to last night after being cut up by an overtaking bus, you live and learn hopefully. Why don't they bring back safety tv adverts? Watching the actual interview it does seem...

Re: This is keeping me awake at night

Unfortunately there is the minor problem that the highway code does tell us to "keep to the left", which is shall we say somewhat inconsistent with our viewpoint and any educational campaign suggesting that actually we should not do so. Does it still say keep left? I thought they'd change...

Re: Rough justice?

Having a camera on the bike/head would have proved it one way or the other, or even CCTV. Presumably the Police can get hold of that to use in court?

Re: Van driver jailed for using van as weapon

Young Blonde and Attractive......... call me cynical? Would you have had as many photos in the article, or as much sympathy had it been a sweaty bearded middle aged man? Not cynical enough, what would be the sentence if the driver was a white middle aged business man in an executive car and a good ...
