Re: Ride To Work Bikes Show Us Yours

Cannondale Synapse. This was took fresh from the bikeshop - it received a set of Bluemels fenders shortly after (& a home made mudflap to keep my feet drier :) ). Work is an hour away by bike, hence getting a roadbike on the BTW scheme to make it a little easier. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2...

If you just want a cheap set, Wilkinsons of all places stock 27 x 1 1/4" tyres.

Re: Can/Should I filter here...

It looks like an awkward road layout - I imagine car drivers find it tricky also. A mini-roundabout would probably help you more! Aside from barging my way through, if not feeling 100% i'd probably wobble towards the centre island, even walk across to it and cycle from there when there is a gap in t...

Re: Camera Mounts on handlebars

Got mine today too Mick. When tightening up the locknut onto the camera I felt the stud loosen in the plastic mount, and shortly afterwards it came out completely. It will glue back in & the end of the stub is knurled, but just be wary with your camcorder as i'm sure it wasn't as cheap as the mo...

Re: France trip

It doesn't seem to have provision for mudguards for a kickoff :| I have the gents version of this which appears to be discontinued for 2010 & lacks rack mounts in any case. Have you considered one of Edinburgh Bicycle Coops Revolution Country Explorers ? Got to be worth a test ride at that price.

Re: FERRY FROM HULL

Tonyf33 is right about parking in the residential areas near the ferry not a good idea they can be a bit rough. Apart from which dumping a car in a residential street for a week is depriving the residents of that parking space. Bit naughty in my opinion! Couldn't agree more. Living near a commuter ...

Re: Postie's to loose thier bikes

How changing to vans will be more efficient is anybodys guess - even if they do have to park illegally. For getting around an urban area, there is nothing more efficient than a bike surely!? I would hope that the unions are going to wade in here as the only 'efficiency' I can see coming out of this ...

Re: On way to work

I find Stagecoach buses around here to be impeccable drivers - really professional & courteous - and some of the other bus companies less so. I guess Stagecoach have a bigger training budget!

The thing with buses is the number of stops they make - what's the point in rushing?

Re: Finger - either numb or pins/needles

These are supposed to be quite good John, and i'm sure there are similar available for less if you shop around. Some even have small bar ends built in to give you a few more hand positions. Completely agree with the posts on luggage too - all that weight on your back will end up on your wrists at s...

The buttock-clenching tendency many people have to dismount with their left foot down, near or even on the kerb... What's wrong with dismounting left foot down? Or is it the "near the kerb" bit? Genuine question, I'm always after learning something new. Ditto Drsquirrel, and more so the '...

Re: Threatening behaviour, worth reporting to police

It's entirely up to you

We've all had the odd 'exchange' i'm sure, but the bit about nipping forward when you were about to get back on the road sounds threatening. I think you handled the situation quite well from the sounds of it though & you didn't come to blows
