Pinhead, I've noticed recently that when people ask for advice about something they wish to buy, you are quick to jump in and dissuade them, instead offering what you own as being the best solution for them.

What works best for you isn't what's best for other people, and it would be appreciated if you could just rein it in a little.

Re: Bike tyre advice please

I have only limited experience of road tyres but I do have the same Giant SR3 tyres as you. So far I have found them to be reliable, puncture-resistant and comfortable to ride. They seem good value too, and I would definitely buy them again.

All great just like me, my Nikon DSLR was £5000, I could have got a £1000 camera but I am a working "pro" photographer, but if you do not "need" all the bells and whistles then you don't need a £5000 or £500 Garmin
Why do you need an expensive camera? Can’t you just use your phone?
Oh crikey!

The reason I posted is because many people getting or receiving a GPS may not believe they can easily "free" use a smartphone
And the OP said they would be receiving a GPS computer as a Christmas gift, so most of the talk about smartphones for navigation etc is largely irrelevant to their situation.

Very few of the replies in this thread are actually helping the OP. Just saying.

That's a very sweeping statement. Perhaps you could provide some source or evidence, or better still, give details if you've had personal experience.

EDIT: My apologies. I can now see your reply further up the thread.

Re: Is cycling still one-upmanship ! for want of a better word

I don't care a jot how flashy or expensive someone else's bike or kit might be. I ride mostly solo and audax events where bike snobbery and/or posing is never an issue.

Re: Bib Tight Alteration

Why not just ring a few local clothing alteration places and ask if they can work on lycra? Alternatively, buy a pair of 3/4 length bibs next time.

You're welcome. I edited my post to remove the name of the supplier, but the tool should be widely available. Hope it helps.
