Re: eBikes: I have some questions

Mick.. with the right bike, sensible hill based gearing, strong mid motor and strong battery, hills like that are 15 mph easily with the same effort you would use to ''glass crank'' on a flat smooth asphalt surface at maybe 10 mph, that's what you witnessed.. and you could go on like that for 40 plu...

Re: I might go back to an aluminium frame (from carbon)

Some on here will remember whom I refer to, Norris Lockley of Settle N yorks.. Bespoke Cycles was his trading name, Norris you may or not remember was the first UK dealer to bring in CARBON FRAMES back in the day , of French manufacture, and their name escapes me yet Lemond and Hinault won the TDF o...

Re: Bosch active line based bike suitable for touring?

Interesting contris,Personally based on all round cycle mechanical experience and in the past 2 years ' E' power additions, having now built my 10th, I rail at the innocence, sometimes... of those who have this marvellous touring idea in their head , yet from what I read and the questions asked appe...

Re: Orbea Gain tyre problem

Shelter here is at the root of a dyke, pronounced ''deack'' back under the root of a hedge or under a decent tree... many on here forget that we don't all live in major conurbations but out in the sticks or boonies. as someone else said it could be blooming miles hunting a bus shelter and they are on...

Re: best conversion kit

Polisman , notice 3lb in a bafang equipped bike, very much doubt that, just built 2 this past week , neither cranks and steel ring were near 3lbs weight.. more like 1.5.. and an Orbea with less than 40n/m torque will in no way compare to even a 250 Bafang..i know 'cause my chum who rides with me and...

Re: best conversion kit

Polisman... Bafang cranks V Middleburn.... I don't know how you weigh stuff but both are all alloy and whatever difference would be its never going to be 3/5 lbs.. most definitely you need a ride on a Bafang equipped lightweight and then you will see what the torque means on any hill , they just don...

Re: Any Carers here?

been Caring for many years, that is 24/7. it gets trying and tiring, never saw much benefit in joining a group , live rurally in the sticks, not really a group guy, team player , a theme enduring through my career that is until [trouble] hit the fan or a saturday morning ended up a saturday evening ...

Re: best conversion kit

Learning every time I build a machine and use all my own experience to try different things on each new build.. discs and big tyre clearance would be a definitive decision on any frameset i would choose now.. Someone on here gave me sage advice several years since, but being me I went my own way on ...

Re: best conversion kit

I haven't weighed any that I built recently, 6.2 kg thats a light weight for an alloy full machine, less than 14lbs.... i won't argue but the lightest bike ever in my w'shop was around the same.. and it was over 10k in money.... weight its not really an issue except when i lift/slide it into my esta...

Re: best conversion kit

polisman.. hi . having now built about 10 of these I would ime reckon you are being optimistic on your overall weight.. what you will find is that your wheels need more strength, stronger wider tyres, more frame strength, your spokes tight, .. like you I had this goal weight wise back when I started...

Re: Leg over crossbar difficulty . . . what solution(s) ?

interesting contris.. before my hip op last Oct I had carried pain in that area for years what I and various physios thought was a deep seated muscle tear which only appeared one Sunday when honking standing up a fairly steep hill, that must have been back in 2012/3 it disappeared only to reappear n...

A matter of economics it may well be.. and your glowing description of the administration is certainly ....well.??.. based on their most unaccomplished handling of the current problem.. and whomever gets the reins in the election gran prix I would wager money that they won't ever get near such a str...

Re: Road Legal Mid drive kit

Interesting contris..imo OP is delving into an area that shouldn't be any concern , as those here know i'm based in Ulster where there are draconian laws affecting sellers and users, I have 250 w metal plates as has Hemo etc etc on my self build machines which are neat and look factory builds.. my e...
