Re: DIY headset fitting with G/C clamp?

hi,never used one!!!! have fitted maybe a hundred headsets using a small softwood block and a small hammer, holding the frame against my wooden bench, the problem imo is to do work on anything mechanical you need some mechanical sympathy, ie. don't hammer on if its not moving, start it off gently, a...

Re: Which Wheels?

Yes....in an ideal world use 36 spoked handbuilt master craftsman touring wheels likely cost with decent hubs and good rims approx 350 stg. aksiums are in my opinion the best all rounder wheels out there..sure if you break a spoke you have diffs, carry spares ?? if you are touring it would be an ide...

Re: Which Wheels?

Mavic aksium , there are lighter wheels and perhaps nicer looking wheels around but these have been bombproof... imo they have served me well.. i'm big,100 kg, [way over their suggested 85kg max weight limit] and ride quickly, and am light on a bike , use good tyres and haven't had a spoke key for r...

Re: Ba Cabin Crew ....

Following this from the sidelines, as i cannot afford to fly anymore.. except on a good road on one of my great bicycles.. it seems to me that BA [a chum used to be their PR director] are taking advantage of the current GLOBAL financial diffs to rehash contracts / impose different rules and also cut...

Re: chainring wrap

Guys..i have had stiff links before which only happened on really cold weather, so its icing up a link and if you have been through rain or puddles??? caught me out back then, and chain was reasonably well lubed, i'd agree with some other contris, too loose a chain is asking for trouble, as is rear ...

Re: Removing overtightened BB bearings from a carbon frame

hi, been reading this, and noted all contris so far, what make is this frame?? is it Italian by any chance, i ask because i have recently , tonight in fact, put a 6 month old pinarello carbon fp5 together and i was right in assuming it had Italian bracket threading, even though it was built original...

hi, been taking in this thread and agree in part with everything said so far, however, don't ever think that DawesGalaxy are top end, well thought of.. yes, never the top , even when they were built in UK, that accolade would be the 531st Raleigh Randonneur, i have a friend who has 2 of these venera...
