I guess when you think it through, banning someone who only drives for pleasure is not as much of a punishment as banning someone who drives for a living. Therefore if (and I don't believe this applies to the case in question) the 'suitable' amount of punishment falls beween the two, you can see ho...

I see that the finger pointing has already started with a coach driver taking a jab at cyclists. http://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/3730348.Cyclist_killed_in_crash/ I find that Coach Driver's comments quite offensive, considering that her friends are posting condolence messages there. For the last 24...

I see from the online edition of her local newspaper some comments have been left complaining about this junction being bad for cyclists. Perhaps now a 17 yr old girl is dead the council might do something about it. http://www.heraldseries.co.uk/news/3730337.Cyclist_dies_in_crash/ Youth band conduct...

Thank you, Kwackers. I didn't know that and I Googled it and found some interesting reading. I never liked the look of Coulthard

Not sure I agree with banning helmets though. I suppose those that don't like it can vote with their feet.

Why does this subject cause so much ire?

Let those that want to wear helmets do so (and be told how to fit them properly - how long would that take?), and those that don't want to wear them, don't.

Or is that too simple-minded of me?
