Re: Compact workstand?

I owned a Minoura RS3000 for over 20 years. It cost me just over £100 in about 2001. I recently
gave it to an enthusiastic young lad who is mad about bikes. As a replacement, I bought a
Feedback Sports Mechanic Workstand for £117,

Re: Looking for one companion to cycle across USA summer 2025

Why only one? For such a long trip you may become bored with each other. Why not invite
additional people, so that if becomes much more of a group tour?

Re: Security on Ferries

Airport security is so strict, yet it is virtually non-existent on a ferry. If a terrorist wanted to make
a 'statement' (assuming they are prepared to sacrifice themselves too), they could load a car
with explosives and have it detonate mid-voyage. They would probably account for more people
than a blown-up plane.

All we're hearing time and time again is that there were bugs in the system from its beginning.

The Aussie tennis open and all two-bit golf, tennis, motor racing and snooker tournaments
get ample media coverage in the UK. Cycling, apart from the Tour de France or maybe the
world road race championships get nothing.

A long time ago, I was looking at making Kelly Take-off type of thing as a commercial enterprise.
Over the past couple of months I have had an email exchange with Mr Kelly and he informed
me that he was working on an updated/revised version of the Take-Offs. He did say that he
could knock up up an older version if I wanted one. I asked for the price for three
(just before xmas). I haven't had a reply yet.

Re: Bar end or downtube shifters

I'm still awaiting Mr. Kelly's response regarding the production of three sets of his gear adaptors from Kelly's Take Offs. Since I cannot find 9-speed Dura Ace downtube levers at a reasonable price, I refuse to pay the £350 that an eBay seller is asking for three sets. The seller is holding onto them, expecting the price to increase, which further reinforces my decision. Instead, I am considering using the Dia-Compe ones available at Spa Cycles.

Re: Best material for a shim for seat post?

For 10 years (2013 - 2023) I had a similar problem (of a slipping seatpost) on my Spa Audax
frame. After using a 'coke can' shim and jubilee clip to keep things stable for so long, I decided
that things had to change.

After concluding that I needed a 27.4 seatpost my LBS suggested using a Seatpost Shim Converter Seat Tube Adapter (25.4 to 27.4)* and then fit a 25.4 seat post, as he had
problems sourcing one sized 27.4.

After a bit of searching I found a nice UNO Kalloy post, size 27.4. It fits very snuggly indeed.

The exact opposite is the case, the driver has been arrested and remains in custody because the police deem that necessary for the investigation. The idea that it's some sign the investigation is complete is as inaccurate as it's possible to be.
I was being facetious.

Err!! this has been suggested before....but isn't the smallest sprocket the one with the splines for the lock ring......which will be lacking on that remaining ?
It should be possible to buy a 12t or 13t smallest sprocket (you definitely can with a 9s cassette).
