Re: Filming and reporting close passes

jimster99 wrote: 24 May 2024, 2:21pm Cycling in London, I've long been upset about the many car drivers who pass as if you're a stationary wall that they can get to within 5cm of without any risk whatsoever. This week I finally cracked and put a camera on the bike
Well done.
My very first 5 minute journey (of less than 1 mile) I had *four* closes passes.
Justified in making the purchase.
I do feel horribly guilty about causing upset for the drivers (no-one likes getting a ticket!)
If you feel guilty about causing upset for drivers then just get rid of the camera.
I've tried asking (politely and not-so-politely) drivers to be more careful when I inevitably catch them at the next lights, and 90% of the time I just get foul abuse (once a guy actually parked, got out and followed me to my child's nursery where he proceeded to threaten me).
Do you still feel guilty for causing upset for drivers?
One concern is the risk that I get some kind of future reprisal from a driver I've reported (my face isn't visible, but my voice might be). Another concern is that someone loses their licence or job as a result of me doing this (which I definitely wouldn't want).
So you give your address details to the drivers.
I'd also like to find out the outcome of my reports (i.e. warning letters? Points?) but the emails the Met send just says "I am writing to inform you that subsequent to you reporting a Road Traffic Incident. Following identification of the driver a decision will be made as to a suitable disposal for the offence. We are unable to provide any future updates on your case. The only time you would be contacted further is if we needed to check your availability for a potential court hearing".
The bar in Gloucestershire is very high before the police consider taking action for bad/dangerous
driving.
And any way of finding out the outcome - can you drop the Met an email in a few months' time and get a reply?
I have seen comments in this forum where OPs have said they have been told by their police force
what action they are taking againtst particular drivers, but I am not sure if that is repeated nationwide.

If it starts bulging you've gone too far.

It would be interesting to know how you got the schrader valve onto the outer-casing of the
pressure washer body. I cut off the valve of an old inner-tube (with about a centimetre circumference
of the tube attached to the valve) but still found it wouldn't attach to where the pressure-release
valve opening is located.

cycleruk wrote: 30 Apr 2024, 2:16pm One of my "good" setups was 10 speed Campag' ergos with a Shimano RD on 8 speed triple.
10 speed Campag' matches directly with 8 speed Shimano. The left shifter was "micro" trimmable with about 9 (?) steps so easily trimmable for the triple Shimano FD and chainset.

P.S. Stay away from Campag' "QS" system.
Also Campag 10s ergos paired with a Campag 9/10s rear derailleur and a Shimano 9s hub
and cassette. This is the combination I have been using flawlessly for nearly 20 years.

Re: 27.2mm clamp

I had a similar problem with my Spa Audax frame and 27.2 seatpost. The issue was solved
by using one sized 27.4 instead.

Anyone after a 74 BCD 33t inner ring? I've got three (from Spa Cycles) that I'll gladly get rid of.
Are they inners of doubles or middles of triples? Other details, e.g. condition?
Please accept my apologies. I have just checked and the 33t middle rings are all 110 bcd,
whilst the inners (26t) are 74 bcd.

A few offer 33t but with some cranks you may need to file the ends of the spider arms down before you fit a 33t ring, otherwise the chain will hit them. However, 33t is normally accepted as the smallest conventional chainring you can fit.

        Re: Help with Gear ratios....?

I have just changed from my prefered 9-s (put-together) ratio of:

        13-14-15-17-19-21-24-27-30 to :

        13-15-17-19-21-24-27-30-34.

The majority of the sprockets come from an Ultegra 12-27 cassette. The additional 13t
end sprocket and the 30 & 34 (from an 11-34) cassette aren't used that often, so when
the time comes to change the cassette, those sprockets can be used again. YMMV.

Put it on the stand, put it in bottom gear, shove the R. Mech. with your thumb, adjust the low gear limit stop so the mech. won’t go past bottom gear, but will go straight into bottom gear.
Now you can adjust cable tension safe in the knowledge that the limit stop is right.
        Simples?
Just to be clear; shove in which direction?

On those occasions, I've had to chase them up to get any acknowledgment. Furthermore, when they do get back to me, they seem to set the bar very high in terms of whether they will take any action.
