Re: towbar rack cover for 2 e-bikes
thanks, that was also part of the issue, we had no wind, only that generated by the car and it still moved around, had there been any high winds i'm sure it could have been a different story
so sorted out all the covers and Velcro straps today to keep the computer / battery connections / hubs etc protected
just still not sure about a cover for the crank motor - see a lot available or what to do with the wheel hub motor protection

Re: towbar rack cover for 2 e-bikes
I have now purchased various products to give some protection to the bikes UNCOVERED
Muc-Off Disc Brake/Hub Covers for both bikes
a set of Small Drawstring Storage Pouch - Folding Outdoor Travel Waterproof Dry Bag - for both bikes computers
for my bike - with a down tube
E-bike Battery Cover, Waterproof
And on the other bike the Rack Batter, using a Rucksack Waterproof cover
Solved the issue , also increased MPG by 10mpg !!!! and much better visibility

towbar rack cover for 2 e-bikes
i have a couple of e-bikes - 1 is quite big
I purchased covers for when the bikes are stored in garage - i wanted strong covers as i also use the garage for DIY sawing , planing etc
I have a motor cycle oxford stormex and a cycle oxford stomex cover
they are no good for the Folding Thurle bike rack - as the arms come out at the top and so covers cannot be used on towbar rack
Now i then saw and purchased a toptrex cheap 3 bike cover off amazon, which looked like the perfect solution to go over the bikes completely - just to keep the worse of the rain and any dirt/oil etc off the road onto the bikes
BUT that was 2 big and blow/flapped all over the place
I then got the 2 bike version and it fitted well, replaced and added some straps with clips so it went round the wheels easy and the middle clipped together
Worked perfectly , and i used some velco to strap top to bottom and left to right to keep it all together - seemed to work well although i had the velcr side down in 1 area and it fluffed up
now i have just been on a trip 150miles , and the cover where the velcro - smooth side on the cloth and its now full of holes
I'm going to use gaffa tape to close the holes and hopefully where the straps go and that may stop in future
any suggestions for something i can cover the bikes on the towbar

Re: recommendations for marking / registering e-bike
Thanks, we are just staying at a holiday park in forest of dean, and the welcome pack included flyer from the Gloucestershire Police regarding bikes being stolen and they recommend the bikeregister - I looked into that and will have to think about what stickers etc i may need

recommendations for marking / registering e-bike
I have seen a lot of things for registering marking an e-bike
data dots
forensic marking
BikeRegister: The National Cycle Database
What do people recommend , on out old bikes (about £150 in the 90's each ) we just used a infrared marker pen and put the postcode
Now we have £1000's , worth of bike
what are the best options to mark, register ???
Now on House contents , all they took was the e-bike value - no other details , locks, stored , frame numbers etc , which i was expecting to have to answer

Re: Switch / Contact cleaner for Battery
thanks all , I didnt get any notofications on repies here - I will have to look at my profile for that
@Jdsk
Yep, thats what o thoight regarding PTFE - i'll take it back to screwfix
@rareposter
Yep probably overthinking it
I had an amazon 3 bike cover arrive this evening , so will be trying that out to cover the bikes while transporting - so that should solve most of the issues - and then use some bags as suggested
Thanks ALL
used the subscribe toolbar to subscribe now
(need to see how to set that on the first post , when i post)

Switch / Contact cleaner for Battery
HI
I saw a suggestion to use a contact cleaner on the Battery connections , after transporting on a towbar - we are getting a 3 bike cover to go over the towbar carrier - tomorrow - Monday 23rd
I have 2 new ebikes and will be travelling end of the month about 150miles one way and then back at the end of that week
I have been told to take the batteries out of the bikes and leave in car , i also have some discs cleaner as well for the brakes
Now if its raining hard and stuff off the road on motorways , then it possible there maybe rain/dirt getting into the contacts
after all that
TO MY QUESTION
I have just purchased some WD40 contact cleaner from screwfix
https://www.screwfix.com/p/wd-40-contac ... lsrc=aw.ds
And i see it has PTFE in it - which is a NON-Conductor - so not sure this is the stuff to use
I can get off amazon some
Cycling E-Bike Contact Cleaner 200ml
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Motip-Unisex-C ... B0191V8Y4W
Anyone have a view / recommendation other than this - or is the screwfix with PTFE OK, just doesnt seem right to me with PTFE

Re: Navigation on cycle paths
thanks so much for all the post and info
high end >£500-700 and then i assume plus OS maps , unless the maps with the device are fine ????
and bike mounts
I will almost certainly buy from GPStraining as excellent support and get email/phone support, training - bundled
they seem to have only have the
Garmin - etrek,. GPSMAP - and actually mentioned the GPSMAP 67 , and Montaina
they all seem to be the 3.5" display - mmmmm
TwoNav
screen resolution of the ROC - Dimensions 2.7’’ - Resolution 240 x 320 pixels
screen resolution of the terra in video - Dimensions 3.7’’ - Resolution 480 x 640 pixels
garmin
EDGE 1050 - Display Size 88.9 mm (3.5″) diagonal Display Resolution 480 x 800 pixels
Edge 1040 - Display Size 3.5″ (88.9 mm) diagonal Display Resolution 282 x 470 pixels

- we wont do much more - maybe a day out - 10:00 til 16:00 BUT that would include lunch in a pub someway - and the max sort of ridemy rides are just a few hours
No i dont need any of that, have loads of stuff on the appewatch - and DONT use that at all - other then the heart, blood oxygen, pulse occasionally(I don't use the training/group ride functionality)

Re: Navigation on cycle paths
i have been impressed with cycle.travel and suspect maybe the way i go
and then if i get the twonav - with OS 1.25K MAYBE .....
I made the mistake a few years ago , buying an etrek10 for walking - useless - £100 wasted
maybe if i find the box , i'll put on ebay as they do seem to get a decent price >£50 on the sold items
I'm thinking of this satnav for cycling and walking
GPStraining , does have a mapping option on its site - played last night and was not that great seeing the and plotting the route - BUT that maybe me
https://gpstraining.co.uk/pages/ordnanc ... te-planner
in the review what garmin did you get ?

Re: Navigation on cycle paths
@Psamathe
thanks for that reply
i'll read your review - what garmin model did you replace with ???
when i got an applewatch - i started using the applemaps and then turnby turn onto the apple watch , and in devon it took us totally in the wrong place - about 15mins drive away from the actual location i wanted - i did also check the pub and so we sort of thought we had gone wrong , but ended up in the middle of a country lane miles from anywhere and then again in devon took us wrong
so I dont really trust apple maps any longer
