thanks to everyone for all the advice and answers - been over the last few days looking at all these apps and mapping tools
All look great
I have also been looking at sat navs, garmin, Wahoo, twonav , but noone really discuss in the shops and one online GPS specialist - just said all our GPS are on this page - directed me to the website and it has a comparison option so read through all that and decide , clearly not interested in a sale
then i came across GPSTrainig (videos I had watched years ago) and what a change - loads of advice on the phone and videos etc
So now i'm really thinking maybe one of the twonav units , also useful for walking - and we are planning to go to forest of dean, new forest and devon (dartmore over the coming months,, we goto devon every year and new forest and hire bikes)
ROC , Terra and i may really push the boat out and aventura
anyway - still researching - thanks
maybe i should start a new thread on the different
THANKS TO ALL

Re: Navigation on cycle paths
wow - you have all been so helpful thanks
@ simonineaston
i have had issues with apple maps , when i was in devon and using the watch and on 2 occasions took us MILES away from a) the hotel we were staying at , it just took us out in the country lane and said arrived in the middle of nowhere and farmland - we did for about 20mins wonder and got an old fashioned map out , so knew it was wrong
and then b) again in devon going to a cafe , miles out , but this time we did not trust it
so how do you use the cycle.tracks with the apple watch ????
@TrevA
Yep, use google maps a lot of th eiphone, its only since i have the watch it works better with apple maps - and on my list to get google maps to work with the watch - but tried a couple of times and it did not work
Just tried google maps layer for cycling and did not seem to work
we have 2 routes on the manhope one through membury and selsey and up to chichester which is the route 88 or 288 old tram way called bills way i think and then on the otherside sulterns way , up west wittering and ichenor to chichester
didnt see either show up - but maybe using it wrong
@JohnR
I looked at those PDF last night - not great small scale , i think we have an old OS map for here - we have them for all the other areas we goto devon etc
and now you get the digital version with a map - so will look inot that too
@Nearholmer
Thanks , i did download cyclestreet - but not looked at
great you find the iphone OK , so i may need a iphone holder (for dry weather
Thanks all

Re: Navigation on cycle paths
thanks to all for the quick replies
@Psamathe ,
thank you very usefull - i started looking at cycle.travel and that does look good
i will play further on that ,
i have the garmin etrek10 , i purchased in 2018 , not really used , much was for a trip to scotland and walking
that also meant i downloaded and used the basecamp and did get a few walks and load gpx walks reated on basecamp and export to gpx and use on the garmin
WOW , what a price increase , I think it was £90 or less when i purchased it , the one with a map was about £120 , but too small
@Eyebrox - thanks
I played with OS maps when doing this walking stuff , 6 ears ago (not many walks) i was not that impressed with it - I will look again and thought it was a lot more expensive than £40 - I keep gettign emails about it .,
@Jdsk
Thanks , cycle.travel seems to be recommended , so i will look into that more

Navigation on cycle paths
Hi
new here , I searched navigation , but did not find what i was after and maybe not the forum for this
today - - I have dropped a lot of money on a couple of e-bikes , tow bar and carrier and was looking at maybe some sort of navigation for cycle paths etc
I have an iphone and apple watch - which is great for car etc
BUT i would like to put in cyclepaths , aso i keep off the main roads , and also may be in other areas like new forest etc
I leave in the wittering/chichester and there are a few paths around and would like to have them on the phone and ride
its not a mountain bike and so not going on muddy off road routes - just paths etc , we did the new forrest , from Lyndhurst to brockenhurst area - for a day on hire e-bike
Also looked at a few apps today
and also Gamin
so i was looking here to see what advice i could get
