The point of a club is to work together for mutual benefit. Someone said we are criticised for wanting different things, well cyclists are different and have different wants needs or ideas. Some of you live in London and get criticised for being London centric Should we then criticise the critics fo...

The number of phoners in charge of a car seems to have fallen from one in ten to one in twenty and now they are not as blatant as before.

However it is rapidly creeping back up as they realise they are more likely to win the lottery than be prosecuted!

I wash it with paraffin(heating oil) then dip in SAE90 gear oil because I get them both very cheap. It is important to wipe away as much oil as you can before riding the bike as this stops dirt collecting. The sprockets, changers and chainrings just need wiping with a cloth, dental floss style. As a Sustrans volunteer I can claim a milage allowance which is lower than that for a car. I think they are 20p and 25p respectively.
It doesnt seem right that Sustrans gives more for a car than a bike, but the reality is we are in a car dominated world.

I am Sustrans Ranger for Carmarthen - Trellech on the 47. My patch can be done with a trailer. However you are right to be concerned a lot of the anti motorcycle traps would require you to carry the trailer over your head! The stretch through Bridgend was a hassle even on an unloaded hybrid. However...

Treating rust spots.

My work-horse bike is rapidly developing rust spots. I have sanded some down and they are due to surface scratches, not coming from inside. I got worried about sanding too far, how thick is the metal on 531 butted? I am using a flapwheel on an electric drill to do the hardwork. The question is; whic...

Car drivers dont drive on congested roads for the fun of it. Isnt the cogestion itself the greatest deterrence to using these roads. If I lived in England I wouldnt have a car, not for saving money, but because it is a waste of your life sitting in traffic queues. When I go out on my cycle and leave...
