Re: Choosing a club

There is an adult wing. It accommodates the children who have grown too old and others. Rides were generally blasts down the B4300 and various returns along the lanes on the ridge to the south of it, last time that I asked. I suspect that some of these 18 year olds are rather fast. My daughter was i...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

A "least damage" route is quite compatible with the various manifesto promises made. That is not what is happening and hence the increased division. That is something of a judgement call. "No deal" would just about meet everybody's idea of qualifying as having left, even if not ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

The argument that those politicians who supported Remain and are now objecting to what they see as a bad deal, are undemocratic in not being prepared to simply rubber stamp whatever deal is presented to them (or equally agree to a 'no deal' Brexit), is absurd. That isnt the argument which is being ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

If they are having a sudden outbreak of morality, then the ones in this predicament should resign on mass and stand again on an honest platform. General election then. It's possible. But please answer the question. What do *you* think MPs should do now? As I said there. If they feel that they can n...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

If they come to a judgement that the promises he stood on cannot be enacted, what are they to do? This is the reality of the situation we are in; no attempt to simplify it to labelling people as "liars" will resolve that. The policies like allowing a referendum and offering to implement B...

Re: Public Places Protection order bans cycling on NCN route

nothing to suggest otherwise. Speaking as somebody who erects those Sustrans signs, I am telling you now, that they are for information only and I have no legal training or powers other than to be allowed to erect an information sign. Unlike the Sustran's sign the No Cycling sign probably has a roa...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

For you, politics - politicians and policies both - seem to be just something you buy in a shop, like anything else, with no other consequences than satisfaction or not. That's a bit shallow, to say the least.

That is the world that I was born into.
I didnt devise it. Our democracy is that shallow.

Re: Prescription Charges

Hi, Natural Ankling you need to find proper sources for your info re Scotland and not the BBC or Tory Press. Don't read Tory press specifically. Correct me on anything I have said. What makes you think I read tory anything? I am not surprised that scotland have bad health, I have been there several...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Its just one man's opinion, not a statement of a constitution. It certainly does not cover standing under an election promise which you have no intention of enacting on the grounds it is bad for your people. I have no objection whatsoever about my own MP resisting Brexit quite forcefully and standin...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

Does that extend to standing for election under a promise to enact a law which you have no intention of enacting because it is bad for the people who elected you? They can try that line if something "unexpected" comes up but not when they are refusing to deliver (out of principle) what the...

Re: Public Places Protection order bans cycling on NCN route

You cannot have signs that contradict each other The Sustrans signs are only information signs, they dont have any legal status. More importantly they are erected by members of Sustrans who have no more authority than a general permission from the signing authority to be allowed to stick up signs. ...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

You tried voting in a referendum, you possibly voted for a party that promised to deliver Brexit in the last General Election. But they are not going to give it to you. You must now* realise that your votes were a waste of time, you will not get it. Because they dont think it is the right thing to d...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

OK your post makes points but they are not relevant to my post that you have quoted as the starting point for it. I was responding to the part about how the system is against Brexit. Specifically Brexit could be done if people really wanted to do it, they would just do it, over riding the system. B...
