My brother still rides his and loves it.
I'd ditto the above comments.
His bike had bad fork judder under braking but that was cured with an uphanger.
A 531st framed bike in excellent condition with Carradice panniers for £80, in my opinion that's a bargain!

Welcome to the forum.
If you squeeze the lever then look inside you'll see either an Allen key bolt or a standard screwdriver slotted bolt. Turning that will tighten the lever to the bars.
Sometimes if you have a quick release lever on the brake calliper opening it makes access easier.

Managed to see a handfull over about an hours gap in the cloud but the sky then closed shop for the night.

Both my children had the same problem with twist shifters, it nearly put them off cycling.
I too changed them to some cheap thumbies - problem solved :)

jags - Are you sure that your photo was the right way up to start with? That's the most obvious likely cause - there's no reason why the site would have treated a jpeg from a smartphone any differently than a jpeg from a computer. That was my photo Andy, & yes , it was definitely the right way ...
