Re: The Truth About Chlorinated Chicken

So how come on my many trips to the USA, including working there for over 6 months, the chicken tastes fine ?? Millions of Americans eat the chicken, there has not been a massive class action, so beloved of the cousins, against its use, why ..? Are we just against anything different or just plain a...

Re: Rusty bolts and aluminium fittings...

PFTE tape is easily available, and has the attractive attribute of being long lasting - it has to be in its primary role as plumbers tape.

Given that the bolt won’t be repeatedly adjusted I think it’s probably a pretty good idea.

Re: Rusty bolts and aluminium fittings...

To chime in a bit further... The bolt is only needed to adjust for the depth of the wheelchair footplate (so less often than once in a blue moon). With my footplate there is also a plastic shim which means that the bolt is entirely enclosed (though open to the elements at both ends). There isn't an ...

Re: Hidden message(s) on Open Street Map

But surely it's doing a bit more than that in that the "graffiti" doesn't appear on OSM, only on OCM? Unless of course you are able to edit OCM as well/separately and someone has taken the opportunity to do that. Well... interesting, that. The dodgy location we're talking about was marked...

Re: ** The Brexit Thread ** - 'Brexit Means Brexit'

The opinion poll in 2016 had two options ‘leave’ or ‘stay’ The stay option was well defined. The leave option was whatever anyone said it was. Notably no one was talking about WTO before the poll was taken, they were all saying how we’d retain access to the free market, travel around the eu, have un...

Re: cyclist knocked of headon with car cutting corners while turning into side road

I see this sort of driving so often that I frankly refuse to wait at the right side of the lane. Smack bang in the middle is where I stop and even then the numpties try to take off my front wheel at times. Me too. I'm going to be accused of victim blaming now. I wouldn't have positioned myself wher...

Hearing aids don't correct hearing in the way glasses correct eyesight... not by a long shot.

Re: Good cheap helmet

I'm looking for a helmet that'll keep me safe Safe from what? Whatever you want to be kept safe from a helmet that doesn't fit is not going to help. A helmet that is uncomfortable won't be worn, possibly even reducing the amount you ride, so won't help. The circumstances in which a helmet can help ...

Re: Hi-tech voting?

Reminds me of last election I voted in. First that I went there with my other half (son was with grandparents). I took a pen for some reason not knowing about the pencil thing somehow. The polling staff spotted the ink and said it wasn't allowed. They took it and destroyed .. Obviously pencil is us...

Re: Hi-tech voting?

Moreover, I don't think there have been any cases of voter impersonation, locally, for many years past. Or at least any *discovered* and publicised cases. Taking the polling card as ID is fine - requiring something else is starting to discriminate against certain voters (generally those who are eco...

Re: Is this the place to discuss Tandems as well?

Perhaps the Pino could be upgraded to a triplet  Did see a side-by-side tandem once, wheels in the middle, riders right and left, probably they need to be similar weights, wish I had a photo That’s a “sociable”, not a “tandem”. Technically tandem means inline... so antriplet tandem is still a...

Re: Is this the place to discuss Tandems as well?

Why the concern about length?
If you drop the wheels the end up similar in length to a solo, certainly possibly to put one across the back of a car.
